I had a dreadful time with W10 (lots of crackles pops and weirdness), but I think the problem was in my machine rather than W10 or SONAR.  The very neat aspect of W10 is if you upgrade and don't like it you can roll back to W7 (or W8) within one month.  So it's sort of a no-lose proposition.

Only on SSD? That's just silly - windows 10 runs just fine on a standard HDD.

yes sadly, the excessive telemetry and spying makes system drive coonstantly being read and/or writing data to it, of course it's not a problem to install Windows 10 even on 5400rpm HDD, but honestly if I should go for Windows 10, then I would definitely install it on SSD, to prevent the problems caused by Win10's very bad optimization for non-SSD drives

Whilst I am certainly no fan of the telemetry and lack of privacy settings in Win 10, to say that this means it is unsuitable for standard HDD's is an enourmous reach. A very small percentage of win 10 systems would be running SSD drives. The rest are standard HDD's, and again, they run just fine:)

I have to say my vote is go for it. I guess that's not much help if it doesn't go well for someone else but it certainly has for me. I upgraded from 8.1 on two machines, desktop and laptop, both old machines, both upgrades went smoothly and upgrades have been painless, both run a variety of old and unsupported hardware with no trouble at all, both run better and more stable than they have on any version of Windows so far. And Sonar runs smoother than ever on both as well. So from here the view is rosy, though I understand that may not be the case for everybody.
