When Beagle and Bapu Roamed the Coffee House...

What a strange, idyllic time that was!

Using PCs made of mud, antlers, and a picture of Don Ho, they could plug in that Dirt 1.0 interface and record noise.  A whole world of possibilities opened up at their feet.  Needless to say, Bapu settled immediately on Am.  To be fair, many of the other chords hadn't been invented yet.

The Bakers were working with Easy Bake Ovens, powered by bottled Unicorn gas, a particulary flammable substance.  The Bakers spent most of their playtime in the attic, dreaming up wonderful ways to record music while enjoying tasty snacks.  Bapu would sometimes beg or sneak a cup of coffee from the kitchen and slip into the cellar to drink it.  He grew fond of this process of scrounging and referred to it as "Mooching".  Beagle preferred to scamper around the house, offering to be helpful.  Mostly, he helped himself to the becan.  His stash of seared pork flesh was kept in the damp darkness of the cellar.

In time, others began to find their way downstairs.  As the Bakers built their house higher and higher, little attention was paid to the largely harmless community with the enhanced moobs.  Some came inside to avoid the plague that spread through the upper floors.  Some wandered in off the street.  Some went all crash in the loudspeaker (good boy!).  Sir Strummy dug a tunnel into the "Coffee House" from a strange and magical land known as the UK.  Jonbouy grew tired of collecting everyone's shiny beads, so he invented money.  When Bapu started telling everyone that he had a new friend he callled "Mooch", they asked him if this was similar to his claim to own an imaginary Alembic.  BayouBill sashayed in an honourable fashion, due in part to the discomfort that comes from living in a van down by the river.  Mammabear (or Janet as she later became known) brought a certain civility and class to an otherwise malodorous atmosphere.  Granted, she had a chainsaw...

In time, a large assortment of misfits, wannabees, hasbeens, couldabeens, mightstillbees, stillares, geniuses and imbeciles drifted into the warm glow of the Coffee House.  That's not a euphamism to describe the atmosphere.  There's literally a warm glow that emanates from the nuclear power plant the Bakers use for their new and improved ovens.  We're fresh out of unicorns...

When I read that really quickly, I though when Bapu and Beagle where in a Romance

Perhaps it was of a kind, a forum romance where they roamed the fields of the coffe house singing songs of unrequited love.

It'a a joke and no offence was meant.

Sorry, Ben.  The Mooch-Bapu Bromance (aka Broke Back Fountain) is a well-established story with a long and redacted history.

Beagle just burgles the becan while the bickering, remote hogging, and couch hoarding are underway.

It's a long, twisted, slightly frayed knot of passion, becan, Pug Wrestling, and endearing pet names.

Such good times.  That was back when a reunion tour meant an opportunity to hear exciting new music.  Now, it's just old geezers making a buck.  So sad.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot--hey, who the hell are you guys?

You know, all of this becan-laden brotherhood and reminiscing about just how many extremities Friend Beagle can shred with his present levitational abilities is nice... but the way this thread started, I was expecting some sort of Homeric ballad about Beagle and Bapu going from town to town in the Old West, saving people's becan from John Morrell*, an evil becan baron who tried to keep it all to himself.

Oh well. Time for another cup of coffee.

*(NB for those outside of USA, John Morrell is a fairly well-known company in some regions for all sorts of prepared meats - including becan!).

A similar tail was told here in which the Becan was saved from the Beagle...
