When I Will Sing To You - Remix

Here is a remix of a song I wrote a few years ago.

My goal was to make the basic track of drums, bass, and acoustic guitar as full as I could get with good dynamic range and full frequency attributes from top to bottom.I primarily used my Equator D5 speakers for this without using too much headphone analysis. All comments are welcome.

Excellent mix/performance Jimmy.....translated very nicely on my H-Phones.....punchy, clean, crisp & clear.
The recording of the instruments was done really well and you've accomplished your goal in getting good dynamic range/full frequency.

I'm getting a great mix here on my monitors...nice clean sound. This is a very nice song as well . A very well done country tune. Great set of singing pipes :)

The mix has very little space here on my setup..this is a preference I understand. If you wanted a more up front feel to it this is it :)

Thanks for the nice words Starise. Interesting comment about space. I never considered creating a specific space for it so I just let it happen like a normal studio session (get the instruments sounding good without too many EFX).
I don't think I would change the space now but need to keep that in mind.

    Thanks again.

Nice song Jimmy - harmonies are excellent.
I totally didn't expect the double time tempo when the drums kicked in.

    Hi Jimmy,

Nice one! Are you sure there isn't a flutey organ really soft in the background? Really, really soft? Pitched very low?

Guitars are all nicely clean and well recorded. Kudos!

I'd be tempted to throw little harmony lines on some of your verse vocals as well!

    thanks for the share,

Hey Tom. There is a synth part doing like whole notes in the verses. That's probably the organ!
Thanks for the good words. Good idea on harmony in the verses. I never thought of that!
Glad you liked the guitar sounds.

I was happy that the main body is only drums, bass, and acoustic. Had some sprinkles with harmonica, piano, "organ", and lead guitar.

    Thanks again.

Man, this is just a classic sound, mix-wise, really clean, really minimal, really really nice. I'll join the rest in commenting on the great, tight harmonies. I'll add that it's a great melody and the jump in time when everything kicks in really gives the tune a cool boost. I especially liked the "Hey!" going in to the guitar solo, which was, like all the guitar work, wonderfully tasty and suited the song well. Impressive work, thanks for sharing it!

Hi Kevin. Thank you for a great review! You know, I am no spring chicken and it is so nice to know that a writer's/producer's work is appreciated! I think we all feel that way as we present our songs and work.

There's nothing better to put a smile on my face than to know something I did was liked by another in this music world of ours.

    Thanks again.

    Hey Jimmy,

I finally got a chance to listen to this song.  Nice song.  I like the laid back style.  Your songs always remind me a little of the Eagles and that blend of Country/ Rock.  I loved the harmonies and thought they were really well done and tight.

For my tastes, I might bring the guitar solo up, just a touch.  It seemed just slightly subdued in the mix.  Everything else seemed mixed really well to my ears.

Nice!   Good song, performed well and very cleanly mixed.   I also hear a bit of an Eagles vibe happening with that cross-genre thing that you've pulled off real well.     I also like how the different layers are added as the song progresses - a nice subtle build-up.    Oh, and yeah, great harmonies.
