When is it going to end

This nightmare of crashes. I can use X1 for about 15 minutes record maybe 2 or 3 tracks and hit playback (or various other things can trigger the crash...not just hitting play) and it either freezes or (this is the most thrilling) poof disappears completely from the screen. Only trace is the little midi thru icon in the task bar. Then comes the wait until it drops out of memory. I can always restart but DAM*IT creativity always gives way to frustration and anger over this app.

I made a post about 5 months ago saying I had had enough and was moving elsewhere and almost took the plunge on studio one but and so darn used to Sonar and cake I just don't want to learn another DAW.

Please tell me that this is going to be fixed soon. I know I am not the only one dealing with this nonsense.

UGH  I am so sick of it.

I have lotsa "little" problems but finally have realized the X1 GUI just isn't for me. Seems like I still cant find stuff as quickly as I could in 8.5.3.  Not nearly.

BTW - I cranked up 8.5.3 today for the first time in ages and it was like being reacquainted with an old and very known friend.

What is really hard for me to understand is just how easy it is to crash for some but does not seem to do this with others...

I've had it freeze up maybe 3 times all told and crash about 2 times...and in every case this happens with vvocal, dimpro or once with prochannel...anything else I can load up to the hilt and nothing...

I think I can sort of live with the GUI but I really would like to see the intuitive interaction I have with some of the older GUI's as well

i'm not the most experienced with things (as other may well know...)  that being said, i'm pretty sure it will be a rougue plug-in or something along those lines that is causing your 'primary' issues.

i would suggest (if you have the space and time), a clean install on a fresh partition with only X1 and see if you have issues.  Add plugins 1 at a time and use it in the tracks.  At some point, one of them will tell you what you need to know....

and there could be more than one.

fwiw, i did away with all the 'free' ones and if they were old (like 5-6 years), they went by the wayside too.  (just me).  but, i can work, work and work without issue.

just my two cent. good luck.

A rack of noisemakers is not a definitive substitute for creativity. (though it does seem to help)

Personally I can count on 1-2 crashes per session. Sometimes it works flawlessly for hours on end then poof, the white frozen screen. It does not seem like I can have a session that does not crash.

In my case, 99% of the time I get "Teleport sever has stopped responding" which from what I understand is Bitbridge. I think I need to invest in Jbridge and I hope to get 64 bit version of all of my plugins when/if they are available. I am now using some UAD plugins and of course there are no 64 bit UAD plugins yet.

    Of course not!!

It is just the way it is on MY system..not yours...not the OP's..not anyone else's. On the OP's system he could only get up to 2 tracks MAX before it goes poof...whenever I used ANY instance of ANY of the above mentioned things I got either a freeze or crash..or both

This whole thing with the crashes and freezes...even intermittent ones btw sux huge...

And before this devolves to another basher vs fanboi debate..I am NEITHER!!!

I don't know when your X1 problems will end, but I know it will be sooner, rather than later, if you can troubleshoot the problem and articulate it clearly to Cakewalk at this page:

    http://www.cakewalk.com/S...act/problemreport.aspx

Posting a problem on the forum is a good start, but if in fact it's not user error or not something in your system that is the issue, the people to talk to directly are at Cakewalk. Even if it is user error, Cakewalk will tell you if they cannot duplicate the problem.  I am assuming you are using X1b with the quick fix 255 update.  Telling the forum what version you are running is important because some problems already have been fixed and its just a matter of installing the updated in correct order.

Do you still have 8.5?  If so - why aren't you using it?  The most solid version Cakewalk ever made.

    6strings,

From experience I would 100% agree it's a rogue plug-in, you don't have to be
using it for it to mess with things.  Don't know why but that's just the way it is,
probably something to do with windows registry entries.

I have X1 (and ONLY X1) installed and fully updated on my old dual-core laptop and
I've had very few crashes since it's release.

My advice would be to buy a new cheap hardrive, remove the HD from your machine
and do a complete re-install of Windows and X1.  But ONLY X1.
From there it'll be so much easier to isolate your problems.

Just a thought and good luck =)
