In the 60's there were only three effects.

Reverb, Tremolo and Wah-Wah.

Oh yeah, Fuzz Face too.

hahah

So I have three groups that would seemingly be totally unrelated and two musicians who share a history
Bartek who was maybe the soul behind Oiingo Boingo (Elfman was the heart) and King who I think wrote Sweat Home Alabamer.  Both part of the line up of the band behind Incense and Peppermints.

I wonder how many others there are like that.

I have only kept track of the wrong turns

Jefferson Airplane becoming whatever it was that did "We built this city"

Genesis going from prog rock to disco

Fleetwood Mac going from blues rock to disco

and the Village People.

You know, a rick 325 (?) a maestro fuzz and an AC 30 - thinking about that combo hurts my ears nowadays.

I have each of those but would never stick the fuzz between the rick and the AC 30.  Maybe I should try it.

I always thought it was interesting that Ian McDonald was in both the first versions of King Crimson and Foreigner.

I can think of some other "effects" being used in the 60's (but not by me - I didn't try those until the 70's!).

Steve Bartek is one of my favorite guitarists (heck, I'm even a member of his personal forum).  I used to work with Danny's (Elfman's) best friend - who didn't like their music, but loved B movies - so I ended up with several really nice tickets from time to time.  I went to several of Oingo Boingo's Halloween shows - we sat next to Danny's wife and son.

As for bands with longevity and tons of lineups from that time period, you can add Jethro Tull as well, but my pic for the most of both is probably Tangerine Dream.  I have a lot of their 100+ albums over 40 years and there's only one band member that's been with them the whole time (Jerome Frose).

Hmm... this topic gives me an idea for a new one...

Well if we are doing band genealogy (please no gyno though) and you look to Spooky Tooth, there is not a single person who is on every album.

Gary Wright was on a bunch of them.

I did not know McDonald was in Foreigner.  Foreigner and Journey destroyed Album Oriented Rock stations.  Yeah Hot Blooded and Double Vision were cool, but later Foreigner made me kill myself a few times.

However, I am a huge KC fan.  And not that dude with the Sunshine Band.

And how about Rick Wakeman playing with Ozzy?

Or Vince Welnick of the Tubes joining the Grateful Dead?

If you're waiting to find out if Paul was in Badfinger, then the answer is no...  He did, however, write songs for them (and they offered tunes to the Beatles) and he also produced for them.
