When the missus goes away...

...just for a few days.

Why on earth does she have to take the better part of my brain away?

I swear I don't believe in stuff like 'Microwaveable Burgers' normally, but I've just purchased prepared and eaten one before I remembered technology is not that advanced yet and there is actually no such thing.

So now I'm having to suffer the consequences of whatever it was that I just ate and none of them are too pleasant.

Do partners do this kind of thing to us on purpose to remind us we're sunk without them?

In the meantime we should all go shopping to console ourselves" - Banksy

At least it's only for a few days and you'll be even more appreciative of her when she returns.

(Now Mystic38 has a completely different scenario.......).

I am completely and totally useless on my own.  Not only can I not find anything, I don't know what to do with it when I find it.

Hope you feel better soon JB.  I am usually the house cook so not much changes that way, but I do miss her when she is away. She was away yesterday and I ended up at the local restraunt on the way home for the all you can eat"soup and salad bar".  No cooking just eating.

I'm a great cook.  But if it's just me, I survive on whatever I can pull out of the cabinet and stuff in my mouth to keep the hunger pangs at bay.  It's usually a couple of saltines.  I absolutely will not cook for myself.  Pretty stupid, but true.

    Hi,

I'll trade you cooking lessons for music lessons Jon ... you will be better than her when I get done!

Ohhh $5 sounds good too! But for friends, it will be just a nickel! ... that's 5 Cents!

I rarely cook for myself ... greatest joy in the past 10 years has been cooking breakfast for mom on Sunday mornings and serving it to her in bed ... she loves to get spoiled and I don't mind ... other than that ... I don't bother any more. It's not worth the hassle to get all the items, and not have a place for them!

I have a couple of great recipes that I got from my Mom that I really like, but one (for example) takes about 45 minutes of prep-work followed by two hours of cooking...  For me it makes two big meals (probably serves six normal sized humans though).  I love it but it's just not worth the effort!

wow - learn to cook.  really.  it's not that difficult.  at least not in "survival" mode.

    just sayin'

personally I do 99% of the cooking in the house - always have, even when we had a house full of kids.  My wife CAN cook some things - but I'm better and more efficient at it and I enjoy it.

But for "survival" for a few days?  it really doesn't take a rocket scientist to read and follow the directions on a box of hamburger helper or even simpler:  slice up some tomatoes, fry some becan, slap it on some bread with some mayo!

I usually eat once a day when my wife is gone. I hqve so much fun doing my music and other tyings I cant do when shes home that i forget to eat most of the time. I usually eat when i start getting dizzy and light headed.

When I'm travelling, my wife will know whether or not I'm hungry.  She'll call me up and say, "Eat something.  You're getting crabby."  I'll wonder how she knew, and then I'll stop pinching tourists and scuttling sideways.

Well, I'll cut down on it.

I am happy as the proverbial clam when my wife's out of town. I go into the studio and only come out occasionally to manage essential nutrient I/O. I ignore the passage of time as well as day/night and sleep cycles.

Of course, by the second day I look and smell like a skid-row bum and realize that if I lived like that for very long I'd soon wake up dead.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.
