Development on X3 stopped some time ago. Do not expect changes to X3. That said, I am surprised relatively new versions of SONAR will not run on Win10. There are people here running Win10 previews. I suspect some of them use X3. You may want to provide more information about the problems you are having and include some info about your hardware.

X3 is what it is; if there's a compatibility issue, it will be on Microsoft to fix it. That said, I'd be really surprised if X3 doesn't run on Win 10. Are you sure it's SONAR, and not your audio interface driver that has a problem? What are the symptoms?

What doesn't work exactly? What interface? Does your interface work away from Sonar/are all your drivers windows 10 compatible? X3 is not supported under win10 and probably will never be, although people have been reporting platinum works for their hardware (not sure about X3). Also of course MS does not support Windows 10 preview either. Make sure you are running X3E.

If the install completed try running in compatibility mode and see if that helps.

If it works on 8.1 it should work on 10. I know some of my Sony products will not work on 10 but requires a reinstall for them to work.

IMHO it is a very nice compromise between Win7 and 8.1. A little of both, so still familiar, but a more integrated feel.

@Jesse G I did not say it will not work. I said it isn't supported under Windows 10 preview. That is an entirely different statement. Right now pretty much everything isn't supported under Windows 10 preview (if not everything), not even MS supports it. And chances of any Sonar product before Platinum being officially supported with any version of Win10 are zero I suggest, although Cakewalk I'm sure will be helpful. Or perhaps you were being tongue and cheek :) (Edited).

I can run X3 and Platinum on Windows 10 with no problems at all.
What is your error message?

The release versions of W10 should have a backwards-compatibility mode (all other versions have so far). If not before, you should be able to get it to work after release.

I've a Samsung laptop running Win10 build 10130. I've got X3 installed on a separate external drive. It runs flawlessly.
I've had issue with some of the plug ins resetting screen resolution, and posted about it earlier this month, but windows magnifier did solve my issue ... and is a work around until final release is set come July.
Whatever the issue is, it is not X3.

I was just being humorous in the forums. I know Windows 10 is still Beta and there are a lot of programs and applications not compatible with it. I have no doubt, however, that Cakewalk will make it compatible with the newer versions of Sonar and X3 as well.

No jokes allowed!!! :) No more patches for X3 I'm sorry. But you probably won't need it (will probably work). And there will always be the upgrade option to Platinum to maintain compatibility and support...

i keep getting midi hang on windows 10
i emailed technical support to be told that cakewalk sonar x3 is not officially supported by cakewalk
i was told to try two thing which are to increase the buffers in midi\playback and recording to as much as 750 milliseconds and go into sonar folder with sonare closed and delete TTSSEQ.ini the
sonar folder and reassign midi devices within sonar it has helped but i still get midi hang but not as frequent as before but even so i do find it rather annoying that a product i bought not even a year ago is not offering up to date support

It is unreasonable to expect the software vendor to port programs to new operating systems when development on the product has ceased. Development on X3 stopped over a year ago. The OS was not available to test when the program was released and a new version of the program has been released and certified to run on the OS. It may not be the program anyway. It could be a driver or other issue.

I still have X3e on my computer along with Platinum. X3 runs fine for me with Windows 10 Pro.

Just let everyone know I updated my audio interface to an akai eie and I am currently having no issues with cakewalk sonar x3 running on windows 10 my apologies to cakewalk it was a hardware issue not a software issue
