When will X2 be launched and what new features will it have

OK it's nearly September...should we be talking about X2

My update money is in hand and I am thinking of upgrading...My system should be able to manage the beast but as the experimental X1 will soon be out of the way! (hopefully) Should we be looking to Sonar Class II or will it be the same nonsense that we went through in the last 8 - 12 months (i'm sure it will be) to be honest I am quite clever so running Sonar shouldn't be a problem to me. I always buy the right equipment (especially after everyone else have used it for a while)

Saying: I don't intend to buy straight away; as my money is precious to me, wasting money is never a viable option:

So I will be watching the forums when X2 comes out and I will be able to know what is going on from the problems that you will no doubt be having when it does come out...once you tell me whats wrong. I can then make up my mind. I need to book an appointment with Digital Village (nice chaps there) to use their DAW software...Studio One...I have used Ableton (BEAST) have not experienced Cubase 5 or 6 whatever!(Brilliant Engine).

Sonar's Engine is not so good; but the sounds are excellent and the quality is superb Dim Pro and such!

So I will exercise patience while you lot get to grips with it!

Thanks for your support in advance!

P.S. I don't like to waste precious material so make sure you explain your problems in detail.

Hmm... I don't know when "X2" (don't know how it will be called - X1.1 could be the name also) will be launched, but I guess it will be around December at earliest. I would be not surprised to see it come out Q1-Q2 next year however..

What new features it will have? I have no idea, but (personally) I am certain the changes will be less drastic than the "8.5 to X1" jump. This interface change was (in my opinion) a badly needed "fresh-up" of a interface that was crowded with icons and was not very clean. An interface change is a huge undertaking, and it is not surprising there are a few more bugs than with a simple "update as usual". The interface change was however needed in my opinion. However - after this "cleaning up" the basic new interface has to be refined. I think this is what is going to happen in the new "X" version. Some things that people are missing now will be added, and there will be some extra "bells and whistles" but the base has been laid down and "X" will be build upon this base...

Will I be forking out money for the new version?

    I certainly wil!

To be honest - I was on the brink of jumping from Sonar to Cubase. The new X1 interface has made me think again about that, and was the reason I stayed with Sonar. For me that € 99,- was money very, very well spend. I know some people here where disappointed (and some are still on a personal crusade against anything "X1"), but I think X1 is a first step in a direction I truly like. Sure - there where some bad bugs and some non-obvious choices, but that is going to happen with a total revamp. Most quirks are being solved by now. I am convinced that with some improvements and refinement "X.new" will become a even more powerful application...

I know some people here are not sharing my opinion, but that is to be expected. This is what I think about it however..

    +1.

They've got a great product here and it beats three particular others hands down in terms of GUI, features and overall look, friendliness and power.  I'm sure they'll polish up the few aspects which have been made clunky compared to 8.5 in order to comply with the new way of things and then it's onwards and upwards to greater things.  I don't know if CW have the resources to have been working on X1c and an X2 simultaneously, but I wouldn't be surprised as their business model does assume an annual bump in revenues around Q4.  But let's not start the 'are we there yet?' threads until at least November!
New features in X2?  Sorry, I couldn't begin to guess.

PS: By what objective tests are the Studio One and Cubase engines supposed to be better than Sonar's?  Just curious.

For the quality's sake I hope CW will not publish X2 until November....2012. They should better work hard on it, test it inside out, put it on public beta if needed and make it a sweet release full of bug fixes, stability improvements and enriched with new features that Sonar users have been longing for. And besides, they should try to polish X1 as much as possible so CW's customers that will not be willing to pay additional money for X2 could sleep well because they would have a stable DAW working as advertised.

The usual "new version every year" cycle is maybe a "money cow" but we all have experienced how poor the quality of such releases can be.

I would rather pay a higher upgrade fee for a more robust upgrade which will not require 2 quick fixes only a few weeks after the release.

I am sure CW has received very rich and useful feedback on X1 from us, users/ customers, so they should focus on implementing the ideas.

    Best Regards,
    Marek

yep in one year you get what you pay for...clearly you can see that a twp yearly cycle if not three should be implemented.

    1st year: Obviously, making it
2nd year testing and advertising or
    3rd year advertising and release.

the rest of the time you can be making those little extras and charging for it
