Where Did The Love Go <---- Soundcloud link

Lyrics:

Verse 1:
The lonely sheets, that's all that's left
Is it a crime, if I did my best
But I can't stop loving you
I never really stopped caring 'bout you, please I
I Need you in my world, whoa-oh-oh

Chorus:
Where did the love go?
And did you happen to see it pass us by
Where did the love go?
I thought it might work out this time

Verse 2:
A quiet night, a night made for two
It don't feel right, me without you
I never met one with quite your style
I fell in love with a simple smile, and I
I won't last much longer,  whoa-oh-oh

Chorus:

Bridge:
Oooo, And why do we hurt
Oh, And why do we cry
I need you here with me right now
So I can get back to my life

(Guitar Solo)

Chorus X2

Note: Updated mix posted @ 1:23PM PST Nov. 21 to fix final guitar line. Also, the song now allows free download of the 24bit non-dithered .WAV for your listening pleasure. Enjoy.

    You're singing about/to a monkey, right?

Best vocal I can remember hearing from you Robby.

Got my Bic flicked, hands above my head swaying side to side.

Sounds great on my full range 1.5" laptop monitors!

Uht oh! Just heard a little hiccup. The guitar stutters just after 4:15. Need to fix that.

    Excellent job folks.

    Thanks.

    Bub.

Robby Robbins wonderful vocals and what a falsetto Jonbouy on drums don't overwhelm it all but instead shows good fineness in setting the mood SteveStrummerUK - All Electric Guitars good push in the end there Jason K.do a great work with the piano Bapu Bass, All Acoustic Guitars, Strings, Producer everything at the right time without steeling the show Great mix with no effects sticking out. 5 stars on this - it could be that I do like the 80's

First thing I said to Bapu when he gave me the original track to listen to.

"You have to get Robby to sing this!"

I think he already had that in mind.

    Perfect vox!

Wow---this is just gorgeous!  Robby, always nice to hear you sing...this is especially good.  :)  Jonbouy....FINALLY I get to hear you play again.  It's about time.  :)  Loved what you did here.  :)  Jason's great on the keys.  Guitars are sweet too.  Maybe a bit overpowering in a few places, but a really good job.

Who wrote this?  It's excellent.  Fantastic, gents!

That guy is nuttier than a Butter Pecan Pie, but he can sing? Good job!

Listening in the cans now. That is one hot, sexy .wav ... Wow! I think you did yeoman's work on the production/mix. The bass? :-) From one Alembic owner to another... It sounds really really good! And the stadium rock sound on the guitars, the drums sit perfect and are perfect for the song. The mix of the BGV, just really spot on IMO. Great song! Thank you so much for the opportunity to contribute :-D It was really a pleasure.

Can you please provide detail regarding the vocal chain?

    I can tell you this much;

Newuann U87AI ---> Universal Audio LA-610 (light compression)

I'm not sure what you did after that? If you could expound on both the lead and BGVs? I would appreciate it.

    Thanks again (Dr. Jekyll)

Believe it or not, almost nothing beyond a 100KHz low cut on the lead vox track. I did some enveloping on the lead vox to tame some of the dynamics. I have a send on the combined vox bus to ValhallaRoom's Bright Plate Preset with no tweaks. I then combine the vox bus & reverb bus into a final vox staging bus where I have Fab Filter Pro-L. That bus goes to the master bus.

Fab's pro L... Mmmmmmm Good stuff! I have Pro-L, Q, G, C, timeless 2, Saturn, and Volcano. Love those boys at Fab, brilliant folks!

Kudo's again on your mix, I wouldn't change much :-) Maybe a touch more verb and some chorus on the BGV? But hey! EVERYBODY'S A PRODUCER! And you're a damn fine one Ed, really a good job on the writing, performance (Bass especially) acoustic, and strings and mixing. My hat is off exposing my shiny bald head. (no, up here?)

At exactly 4:19. It sounds like the beginning of the guitar is cut off. Like a quick record skip.

Maybe it's an artifact from Sound Cloud?

I personally salute Ed for choosing me to sing on this? For example, the previous poster *Nothing wrong with him?"
However, he would not choose to comment on "ANYTHING" I posted? I don't hold that against him? We all have people we boycott... And "MANY" boycott me?

That's fine? I wrote a song called? "It is what it is."
And I believe this? It is what it is... Great song BTW?
    --------------------
My point being? Ed saw beyond differences? And chose to select performers based on their ability?

We are all musicians? And "performers?" and we should be judged on our performances? Not our "whatever else..."

    Thank you Ed.

Not 24 years ... I'll have a long phone discussion about that subject

    Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yes I will

I like to live going forward not the past ..never going in reverse

I am so into moving forward my car doesn't even have a reverse ....man ...go 120 mph and stop that puppy on a dime

    Hi, Ed,

This is really a dynamite ballad with great performances by everyone, and a truly fantastic mix!  I'm on my third lsiten.

Robby's top notch vocals are very soulful and full sounding, Steve's guitar tone and tasty playing are spectacular, with a punchy, Neal Schon Journey vibe, and it's always great to hear Jon's excellent precision drumming again.  Jason's piano sounds great (what piano synth is that?), the bass and acoustic sound absolutely perfect for the song, and I seriously think this is definitely your best mix ever.

Phenomenal job, guys, this is a real gem!

I loved the intro... it seems like a really heartfelt song with it's stripped down, bare roots message.

The piano, the vocal and the song were gelling up just right and making a powerful whole.

I never liked Journey. Still don't.
