Where are my "Region FX"?

title says it all.
i'm on X3e, everything else seems fine. I use Sonar daily.
however, when I highlight a clip and try to drop down the 'region fx' pull down at the top, it doesn't do anything. there's nothing there, not even a pull down with blank options. all other pull down function fine. just not region fx

ive used this once before I swear, but now its somehow messed up. anyone encounter this?

That also happened to me. I just rescaned the plugins and got them back again.

I tried a re-scan and a full re-scan and this didn't help at all. Anyone else?

    For 64bit installation
Make sure C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 in the VST scan path.
Make sure Melodyne stand alone works. The default path is C:\Program Files\Celemony\Melodyne Singletrack\Melodyne Singletrack.exe

V-Vocal will only show up if there is a previous version of SONAR Producer installed on the PC.

    Still no luck.
Again, my "region FX" pull down does nothing.

@perfectprint: not sure what I'm supposed to see, but I don't see any region fx on right click of a clip.
I've tried making a clip a groove clip (I HATE that I have to do this, BTW)

I've uninstalled and reinstalled Melodyne (single track) and then did a re-scan but that didn't change anything

Have you tried the usual shrtcut Shift+V?
And what about the track view menu (tabs) that one should definetely have a Region FX tab....
    It should go
View - Options - Tracks - Clips - Midi- Region FX

Make sure you have the Audio set to "clips" and not automation, or some other sorts.

Have you ever used Melodyne before? If so, what happens when you open a project with Melodyne clips on?

As mentioned above, right-clicking can fail to launch Region FX if you are in the wrong event filter. That's why I suggest checking if Melodyne is actually there or not. The shortcuts (track menu) is the place to go. Or the stand alone version, or just looking for it at the VST list and applying as any other FX (from browser?)
If Melodyne is not showing up in your system, even after re-install and re-scan, then do a reset+scana s adviced. If still nothing, call Houston...

For external plugins like Melodyne to be flagged as a region effect it needs to be ARA compatible and it needs to be a VST3 plugin. If you have installed the VST3 version of melodyne and it is in your scan path it should automatically be scanned as a region effect and show up in the menu.
If you can't resolve this, please export your VST inventory from the registry and send it to us linking back to this thread.  The inventory for X64 is here :
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\Cakewalk
    VST X64
    For X86 it would be:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cakewalk Music Software\SONAR Producer\Cakewalk
    VST

    Thanks for all the replies!
I'll try to answer in order.

When selecting an audio clip, Shift-v does nothing. I don't seem to have V-vocal anymore?
I've got all the tabs in track view, its just that clicking Region FX does nothing. All the others work as expected.

Full reset and re-scan. No change.
Yes, Melodyne is in my VST menu, and its green (not greyed out, indicating problem)
Strangely, Melodyne will come up as a VST plugin inserted into the track, but does nothing. ie, it displays no audio, and I can't drag/drop audio into it or anything.

Right clicking on an audio clip only shows Edit, View, Clip Lock, Groove Clip Looping... but no Region FX

I have used Melodyne before, but it was a long time ago when it first came out.
Melodyne Singletrack stand-alone version seems to work perfectly fine.

@Noel-- got my reg exported (Melodyne shows up)... where should I send it?

Re: Where are my "Region FX"? 2014/11/22 12:14:53 (permalink)
Is this the Melodyne which ships with SONAR X3 or a separately purchased version?

If it is a separately purchased version is it Melodyne 2?

Plug-ins listed in green in the browser are 32bit. Are you running 32bit or 64bit SONAR?

Which version of X3 is installed Basic, Studio or Producer?

Is Melodyne listed with the VST3 or the VST2 plug-ins?

As I wrote above V-Vocal will only show up if a version of SONAR prior to X3 is installed. Which versions of SONAR are installed on the PC?

SHIFT+V does not bring up V-Vocal in X3. There is no function to bind V-Vocal to a shortcut anymore.

The usual route for sending attachments to CW is via the Cakewalk Problem Report Form. Then PM Noel with the CWBRN

Again, thanks for the help. Answers!

Melodyne that ships with X3. I have a license for it in my account.
Melodyne is blue, so its 64 bit. I mistook that in a previous post. Its listed as a VST2
Running Sonar Producer X3e (build 352), and that's the only version I have installed, so I guess I don't get V-Vocal anymore.

It is unusual to see a VST2 version. The VST3 version is required for region FX. Working with Noel and CW tech support is the best idea. I have read a couple of other reports similar to this but none have reported their resolution. I am guessing it is a shared library problem but don't know for sure.

Make sure when you install Melodyne that you choose to install the vst3 version the installer.
This should be found in C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3\Celemony
Also check that C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3 is in your vst scan path.

Happy to report that this is resolved!
An installation of the VST3 version, as well as pointing my VST scan to that common directory did it (after a restart of Sonar). Now my region FX are back, as is the drop down choice.

    Thanks Noel and crew!
