Where are the Drum Synths?

Hello,

I was wondering what products exist out there for people who want a true drum synth?  Not a sampler like Battery or Session Drummer but a REAL synthesized drum synth.   Any real popular ones out there?  i checked some of the free VSTs but they are crappy.
Thanks,
Adam

try the d16 stuff.  I believe they have several drum synth packages.  Also Rob Papen has one as well.

    Yeah the D16 stuff.

    Linplug RMV

    Image-Line Drumaxx.

Even Sonar's humble TTS-1 has those historic GM electronic sounds built-in.

Sonar's SD3 and the built-in step sequencer will give you a lot of scope even though it will be sample based sounds.

There's no shortage of stuff in the box or outside of it.

Personally I use Reason rewired for that kind of thing but I wouldn't suggest getting that just for it's drum machine capabilities.

What are you after in particular that is making your job difficult to find anything suitable, It's probably the most well-covered area I can think of?

Well I am after a certain sound and I find the samples just don't cut it.   I think Drumazon sounds fantastic and I can customize it to my liking.  I just like the sound of synthesized drums! :)

that's an expansion set, so you'll need EZD to use it

(NOTE:  don't buy from their website, tho, sweetwater has EZD base for $99 but I didn't see the electronic EX available, so you'll have to look around for the best deal).
