Where are the manual for the effects and instruments?

In the reference manual there is the generic statement after each effect or instrument that goes something like this for each listing:
For more information, see the DreamStation DXi2 online Help.   or
For more information, see the DropZone online Help.  or
For more information, see the Classic Phaser online Help. or
For more information, see the DSP-FX Chorus online Help.

I think you get the idea.  A lot of nice plug ins but no instructions on how to use them isn't going to do anyone any good.  Where is the online help for these?

F1 is used to get to the help for the plugins in general in X1. Have their GUI in focus before pressing F1.

The plugins included are pretty much like any other of their type. A compressor is a compressor sort of idea. If you understand what a compressor is and what it does and how to use it a manual for one should not be a priority no matter where the compressor came from.

One neat thing about any plugin is it has tweakable controls that through listening will tell what that control does.

One can also try the presets while looking at just what has changed about the controls not to mention the sound.

However if you wish to learn more then what is perhaps in a simple help file there are some fairly respected books on mixing and general DAW usage that will take you behind the scenes and be a lot more detailed on just what it is these things do and how to use them.

I could be wrong, but AFAIK the reference to "online help" refers to the help file mentioned by John. I believe these help files are loaded as part of X1 installation, and that they are not "online" as in on the internet. This used to confuse me too, but my understanding is what I have gleaned from this forum over the years. If I am right then it would be less confusing if the above messages said "For more information, see the DreamStation DXi2 Help File (press F1)"

You're absolutely right. The term Online predates the internet. It means that its in the computer as opposed to in a manual.
