    Oh yes, you have to have a pont to pontificate in. I think you ponder in a pond which is a little wetter, but I'm not really sure.

     Pondering and that other one are very different....Pondering isn't usually shared for the sake of putting oneself in a position to self absorb and hope to be absorbed by others.

    I've observed and it seems that while pontificating here is considered a good thing, mostly the idea of pondering anything beforehand is completely optional.
