Where did my Lexicon reverb and Vintage Pro channel go?

Hi, I hope I am posting in the correct place.  I can no longer find my Lexicon reverb or my Vintage pro channel.  I used to be able to select insert audio effect and they were available.  I am using Sonar X3.  If I open old projects they are still in the channels where I had inserted them, but still not available to insert new.

Any help is much appreciated!
Thanks

Some plug-ins are discontinued over time. To get them on a new machine running the most recent version of SONAR use the advanced install option of a version of SONAR which included the plug-ins. The Lexicon Pantheon was last bundled with SONAR 8.5. The VC-64 was last bundled with X2.

I had the same problem until someone brought to my attention I could get the Lexicon off my 8.5 installation program.  I bought the Sonnox Reverb plugin about a year ago (and spent $200) but find myself going to the Lexicon that was bundled with 8.5 more.

For that reason and True Pianos I install a bare bones version of 8.5. But I am told it is best you do this before you install X3. Sonar should be installed starting with the oldest to the newest.
Do a custom install and uncheck all but what you want. Most are still included in X3 Studio and Producer. You say X3 so I assume it's the basic version.
Anyhow I printed off the list from the Sonar Versions Page

Thanks for the feedback.  I have to admit, I am lost in X3.  With 8.5, I seemed to know where things where and how to use them.  I will try to do an advanced installation to make the Lexicon available again.  I  don't think I ever had Sonar x2, as I went directly to X3.

Perhaps I should just try to use the reverbs and Vintage channels that are now available in X3.  - I assume they would be better.  What is a good substitute for the Lexicon Pantheon, and the Vintage Channel?

I am also having serious latency problems with recording.  I really can't use the monitor as it is so far behind.  Perhaps this should be a different post.

    Thanks

A lot of us still use Lexicon. They wrote the book on digital reverbs. I just bought the MX200 Hardware version and it's sort of sounds a little better than the Pantheon but darn hard to tell. I bought it on sale to use for live but it can also be used as a hardware VST using USB cable.  It is $200.

So if you still have 8.5 installed you don't need to re install it. Just go to the plug in manager in X3 and make sure the 8.5  plug in folder is included in your scan. You can add any folders to the scan path.

hey man, like I said, I paid a pretty good little chunk for the Sonnox and STILL prefer the Lexicon in many situations. I almost never use Breverb (bundled with X3) or the other one... can't think of it now.  In fact I don't like Breverb (find it's too 'bright' in most cases).  Now that could be that I just haven't dug into it much.  Bottom line is don't believe everything you think when it comes to plugins.

Usually newer versions will pick up older version plug-ins unless they are installed in non-default locations or the old SONAR version was 32bit and the new version is 64bit. Also after installing X3 make sure to update it to X3e http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013361/SONAR-X3e-Update and reset and rescan the plug-ins http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013315/SONAR-X3-Full-VST-Rescan-Recommended-for-Upgraders

If I were guessing, the 8.5 is 32bit and the X3 is 64bit but would rather have confirmation before suggesting solutions.

And yes, you might be better to start a new thread to deal with the latency issue to keep things straight. I was going to say something on how you might solve it but I'll wait and see if you start a new thread. LAtency is easy to fix most times. Turn off input echo as example..

When I first upgraded to X3 pro, all of the plug ins. i.e. Lexicon Reverb, and Vintage channel were available.  It was just last week that I noticed that they were no longer available.

I went ahead and ran the scan as suggested.  It found about 10 more plugins, but not the Lexicon or the Vintage channel.

I am now running the update to x3c patch.  Maybe that will fix it.

I used the Lexicon Pantheon reverb for years and got to know it quite well.  When CW replaced it with Breverb, I experimented with it and was surprised that I like it even better than the Lexicon.  Give it a chance, and you may be surprised, too.  As for the VC, I still have mine, but rarely use it because the ProChannel trumps it, imo.  I have never used the de-esser, opting instead to use a volume envelope to control sibilance.  BTW, you may prefer to upgrade to x3e, rather than x3c, because it is the latest and most stable version.

    All the best,

OK, success.  I went to the Plugin window on the side of the screen, and selected DEFAULT ALL PLUG INs, and then I could see the direct X list which included the Lexicon reverb.  Does Default all Plug ins include X3 Producer Effects?  Or do I have to change to it in order to get those plugins

Lynn, when I did the check for available upgrades the program gave me x3c as the upgrade.  How do I get the x3e?  I assume I can just go to cakewalks site and get it?

Also, thanks for the tips on the Bverb, and the Pro Channel.  I will try them out for sure.  What do you use for final mix?

Lynn, Love your Song and Video "Rivers in the Sky"  It is very creative.  I hope the song is not about your own son.
How do I post a link to one of my songs as you did in your info.

Yes, the "Default All Plugins" layout is built on the fly from all available plug-ins when SONAR starts up.

I had to redo my installation of Sonar x3 on my new computer.  I have lost the old effects from 8.5 like Lexicon reverb and Vintage channel.  I know that someone had told me that I could reinstall just them somehow from my 8.5 disc, but I can't find that information.  I have already install sonar x3.  Can anyone please advise me on how to add those old effect back in?  I know it can be done because I did before.

I guess I am kind of wondering if I should just forget about them and try to use the new effects, but I have so many projects already set up with the old effects.

    Thanks for your support!

To install just the plugins you want, insert your 8.5 disc and select "Advanced Install" from the prompt.

DE-select everything you DON'T want installed and continue.

You might need to add the paths into your X3 Plugin Utility so that X3 can "see" the plugs.

Thanks for the input, Before I saw your post, I was able to go back and find an old post that said to use the Sonar 7 disc, which I did and it seemed to work.  Perhaps I should do it with 8.5 too.  Maybe there are others on there that I didn't get with 7?

Not sure what was lost between 7 & 8.5 - if anything.

    I went from 6 to 8, skipping 7 altogether,  so I can't really help.
