Where did the treble go?

My project is done. All the instruments are well-balanced with each other and everything sounds great through my Grado Labs headphones. But then, I export the .wav at 16 bits and 48k, then have another program (which has never failed me before) resample that to 44.1k, then burn to CD.

I then find this project sounds very muddy and has almost no treble when compared to other tracks. I'm even using a Telecaster! Has anyone else experienced treble disappearing?

Which sw are you using for rate conversion? Try this one. It's free and very good (I tested it on a highly accurate spectrum analyzer and there are very minor distortions [less than -100db] around 5000 Hz and up.

Thank you, sir! Given that the sound not only became extremely mid-range but also just generally blurry and indefinite I think the resampling must be the key.
