Where do you practice?

I went for a walk this afternoon.  I started to hear some unusual music.  As it turned out, there was a guy playing bagpipes underneath a bridge that spanned a creek.  He was on the other side of the creek.  He played pretty well too.

Does anyone have an unusual place like that to practice?

Should auld acquaintance be forgot--hey, who the hell are you guys?

I practiced in a Dr. Office once. That as 5-10 years ago (with time off for good behavior).

I can only practice at home in my apartment, except for my vocal lessons done at a university music faculty.
If/when my wife and I buy a home, we both agree that it will have a sound-dampened rehearsal room.

What IS this "practice" concept I keep hearing about???

(BTW - What's the difference between an onion and bagpipes?  Nobody cries when you chop up bagpipes! )

I have a midi keyboard that connects to the sound card on PC.  On those rare occasions when I do practice, I mostly use headphones.  The cheap PC speakers I have are nothing to speak of.  LOL

Maybe, if I had a UA card and some plug-in I might practice more.  Hint-hint.  LOL

How can you tell if a bagpipe is being played well? Those should be abolished..no?

When I practice my sax it is usually on a bridge that is about 200 yards away from any home...over the CN/CP mains...

It didn't sound like he was pulling the tails of a bunch of cats.  I suppose there are a lot of players that shouldn't be playing, completely abolished?  You're very brave.  You may have a bunch of angry Scottsmen looking for you.

No, there isn't.  I used to do some pre-mastering back in the last millenium.  Eventually, I was working with a pair of Genelecs.  I wish I could afford a pair of them now.  I'm just doing it for my own enjoyment these days.

I practice right here where I am sitting now. A synth sits about a foot from my left elbow. It's why I get so little work done at my day job, which I also execute from this same chair.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

Technically I don't think what I do is practice, probably more accurately I just play what I want to. Most anywhere but the bathroom as I can't mutitask in that way...usually at home. While the wife is home its keys or guitar on headphones or low. When the wife is away all hell breaks loose on the guitar.I usually have tinnitus for a few days after that.

We don't need no steenking practice... well, actually we (I) do.

It depends on what type of practicing I'm doing.

If it's just playing for dexterity, my recliner.
If I'm learning new sounds/chord progressions, working out special licks
or writing I like to be at the DAW so I can record and
    listen back.

But it seems a great deal of my practice takes place in my head.

i practice in my imagination.  only place (so far) where i'm not hurting those around me.  I even have imaginary callouses on my imaginary fingers.
I need to not practice so much.

I'm SO thankful for my digital keyboard and headphones, so I can practice any time without bugging anyone.  Voice is a bit different....I wait till I'm home alone.  Bass and guitar....the kitchen, my unofficial office.

I seem to be having issues finding things that can mute the sound of a sax....so I go out on bridges and have trains blaring their horns....thankfully no rutting deer come around...maybe I scare them off...

Yes, that would be tricky.  But if you think it really scares deer away, I just may take up the sax too. :)
