Where is the Innocence?

My apologies for being absent for so long but I have been dealing with a long time friend suffering from lung cancer.  Unfortunately, this required several trips to North Carolina (his place of residence) during the past couple of months.  Sadly we lost Tom last week.

I had intended the song posted here as a kind of tongue and cheek number.  I played it for my wife and she took it as a trip down memory lane.  So I played it for my sister and a couple of friends and they had the same take.  Oh well, so much for intent.
Hopefully, it might call up some memories for you.

As always, any feedback will be appreciated.  Thanks.

    Freddy,
Love the lyrics! Guess I didn't think of them as going down memory lane or being tongue in cheek either for that matter. More like the view from someone who's seen a whole lot of changes that are probably in high school history books now.

The vocal track is pretty clear. Didn't have any trouble following the lyrics.
And the guitar work is great as always.

    Sorry for your loss.
This is a nice song, vocals are clear even though there is an obvious effect on them. The mix is nice and clear this end.

Sorry to hear of your friends troubles and your loss, kudos to you for supporting him.
A track of your usual calibre Freddy, nice clean mix even with the FX.

First of all my apologies for being so tardy in responding.  The past couple of months have been unreasonably busy.

Hi Bjorn.  You are right about the lyrics.  Most of what I described, in this number, I have seen in my lifetime -- changes and all.  That has the disadvantage of making me feel terribly old .  Ya, probably some of these observations are written up in history books by this time.  Thanks for responding and for your kind comments.

Hi Adrian.  Thank you for your sentiments concerning my friend Tom.  You are right about the effects on the vocals.  There is a touch of reverb on the BGV's.  I really like reverb and tend to misuse it.  Usually, what I think is just a touch is often too much.  I appreciate your response and comments.  Thanks.

Hey John.  Thanks for taking the time to listen and respond.  I very much appreciate your encouragement. Thank you for your sentiments concerning Tom.

Hey Tom.  I really like the recent DT song post.  It is an excellent number my friend.  Thanks for your encouragement concerning this song and for your kind comments about the loss of my long-time friend.

Great stuff Freddy. Lyrics are spot on but, to my ears, the vocals could come up a little in the mix - I really like your voice and it seems a little buried.

Freddy, this song is so timely in so many ways.  Your words are perfectly conveyed by your sincere vocal and arrangement.  Songs like this have the power to heal, and I'm sure it must have been fun to write and record.  Your friend would be proud of you.

    All the best,
    Lynn

Great way to convert a down into an up, Freddy.   Cool retro vibe, from the tremolo to the slap-back delay.  And the lyrics fit perfectly.

Hey Daryl.  Thanks very much for listening and commenting.  I appreciate your suggestion and will be giving the vocal a bit of a boost!

Hi Lynn.  You are right I did have fun doing this song.  What is the point of doing this if you are not having fun ---- right?  Thanks for your input and encouragement.  I very much appreciate it.  BTW, I really enjoyed listing to your recent post.  Excellent stuff!!!

Hi Anna.  Thanks very much for your kind sentiments about my friend Tom.  I very much appreciate your kind comments about the song and I'm very glad that you enjoyed it.

Hey Steve.  I was going for a retro feel with the verb and tremolo.  Thanks for your very kind comments and taking the time to respond.
