Where is the Loop Content in Sonar Platinum?
I bought Sonar Platinum (pay as you go) and I see the browser on the right side of the DAW. I see the loops and one shots folders, but when I open these folders, more subfolders appear. I navigate through these few subfolders but there isn't a lot of content in them, certainly not "thousands" or even "hundreds" of files for that matter. At most there seems to be maybe 10 to 50 files in each folder. I thought there would certainly be more content than this included with the platinum edition of Sonar. Heck, ACID PRO 7 gives you nearly 4 gigs of loop content. Am I missing something in Sonar? Where is the content? Thanks. Robert

welcome to the forum. I believe there is 2 or 3 GB of content. ( groove clips/midi files/rex files, audio files) https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=Tutorial2.2.htmljust make sure you go to CCC and double check you downloaded all of the loop content. are you seriously comparing sonar to Acid Pro 7 ? your getting a DAW that's 10X times better than acid. loop content can also be found free on line. the loop content in sonar was never meant to be a selling point, it was placed there to get you started. and 2 GB of content was plenty for me, I know everyone is different but 2 GB's is enough to get started. like I said there is plenty of free content to be had on line and hopefully as time goes on you will find yourself making your own loops. that is something you will take great pride in knowing your using your own library's. its really easy to do as well. insert a synth, create a part / freeze it/slice it, drag and drop it (it wont be acidized though) if you want to do that you'll need to read up on groove clip looping basically sonars version of acidized files groove clips=acid loops

Thanks for the replies guys, but the reason I'm asking this is because I've seen videos of reviews of Sonar and these guys all say Sonar Platinum gives you a ton of content. They show the folder and its got A LOT more files than what I see in my folders. I am missing something, I'm positive of that. I should have thousands of files at 2 gigs and I have no where near that many. I bet I don't have 200 files TOTAL in ALL folders. Please confirm that there should be more than that. What do I need to do to make sure I've gotten all the files?

Hi. Did you use CCC (Cakewalk Command Center) while installing SONAR? If so, make sure all lights (submenus and Products) are green in CCC. If not, log into your Cakewalk account, and download everything (to make sure you have all (the latest) included content, and install them to make sure everything is installed. Others may know better All the best.

I checked the CCC. All the lights are green. Surely, there is more loops included with CakeWalk than this. And this included not one but TWO content packs? Are you kidding me? Really? REALLY? If so, this is the lamest content I've ever seen in a high end product. In CakeWalk Music Creator 7, you get over 2,600 loops. I have nowhere NEAR 2600 loops and I have the Platinum Edition. What the heck is going on here? WHERE IS THE CONTENT? I can't even begin to use the DAW with this minuscule amount of content. I have counted up ALL the files IN ALL FOLDERS and SUBFOLDERS under the "Loops" Folder in the browser and they equal to 1,353 files. Over 1000 less than Cakewalk Music Creator 7. I haven't went through all of them, but the ones I have previewed are mostly techo, sound effects, and the like. Surely, to be SURE, the Platinum Edition of Sonar gives you more content than this. Can someone verify this? 1353 files certainly shouldn't equal 2 gigs unless they're recorded at 256 bit depth. I think I'm missing a lot of content, yet the I have all green lights in the CCC. Shouldn't I have more than a mere 1353 loop files? I mean, thats the total of EVERYTHING in the Loops folder - including all subfolders.

As far as I can tell, you've got it all. Cakewalk's primary focus is on the functionality of the DAW not musical content. There are many other places to get audio content to use as loops.

I have to agree with Dward, Sonar's primary function is a DAW not a loop content pack. I know your upset but tearing down sonar because of what you feel is a lack of loop content wont get people jumping up to help you. as I said before, there are tons + tons of free content on the web. PS- what you say is NOT tons and tons of data / some might say "1,353 loops" is more than enough. that's over 1000 loops man. im not sure why your upset. good luck.

Don't forget all the loops and patterns included in the various bundled instruments. There's plenty to work with for anyone who can't play an instrument or program a beat.

I have 5671 files in 142 folders by the way. But that's Sonar X2 until now. I also never installed the Brian Hardgroove stuff and that kind of thing. I think I had 4 "DVDs" of "additional content" before Command Center existed. Was that all Roland licensed stuff that since disappeared?
Regardless, in addition to audio loops, Addictive Drums, Session Drummer, Studio Instruments and a bunch of others all come with their own patterns and loops.

I went ahead and bought some content. Love Siggi Baldursson and Tony Franklin. Those guys ain't from Earth, and they go together like fried chicken and mashed potatoes. Thanks for the confirmations and replies, I do appreciate it. Can't wait to put my Telecaster skillz in with those guys. A little slice of heaven I tell you.
