Where is the "correct" place to shift-click to select envelope/clip

Hiya Friends...

It seems that I can't always do the simple shift-click to select a clip after editing an envelope. The more emvelopes I have, the more difficult it gets, but it seems that I shift-click in an area of clip "away" from any envelope and it doesn't always work... Making it so that I must try different locations within the clip until at last it does....

You 'know' how I feel about the Event Filter to begin with... This ain't helpin' my attitude so I hope there's a repeatable solution that I simply haven't come upon... yet?

Thanks for any tips...

Keni

    I have that trouble too.

Another option is to hit 'T' for the head's up view, i.e. a little popup menu that appears where your mouse is. From there you can select select "clip", or any of the envelopes. I rely heavily on 'T'.

    Thanks...

I know about that one, but these are involving my constant issues with the Edit Filter and Smartool... Because the new paradigm slows down my work a lot...

So I'm trying to use the tools that they tell me make it as fast or faster (they claim faster)... I'm not finding that and continue to get frustrated...

    Thanks for trying tho...

I tend to go for the bottom edge of the clip, and if needed I'll temporarily expand the track or double-click to maximize it if the area is fairly congested.   And if that fails, Edit Filter it is!

That whole area will get a lot better when (if) they impliment a popup on mouse over. I don't find any great problem getting an envelope although if there's a lot of criss-crossing going on with multiple envelopes I avoid those areas.

If you're switching back and forth between two a lot try shift and right click, I use that an awful lot. If you have two very close together I find dropping slightly below or going slightly above the target envelope (until the current one's popup disappears) and then shift clicking will select the one I want. But of course that gets difficult if there are 4 or 5 all parallel with each other at different levels. At that point it's middle mouse click and HUD.

    Thanks Guys...

I'm not gonna jump into one of my anti-Edit Filter tirades, but all these issues are so much slower for me than pre-Edit Filter... I hardly ever had the dreaded "clicked on wrong item" while editing before any more than I do now... but now it's with a dozen new situations that slow things down...

That said, I do like the speedy method of creating 4 nodes to match selected area... Tho I almost always need to manually edit it, that one feature is nice...
