guys: you were correct that the ASIO is in the Lexicon Alpha installer. i know because when i open the AUDIO window in MC there it is. however when i choose the ASIO the drivers window is blank. the Playback Timing Master says none. and when i click on the ASIO panel bar at the bottom of the AUDIO page nothing happens. i don't know much about computers but even i know that something is wrong, although i don't know what it is. sirena del mar

I'm pretty sure that Cakewalk started ASIO support with MC Pro 24, the version just before MC 3, which is what you use if I recall correctly. I'll have to check that when I fire up the studio later tonight. Wait, I still have the box... Yep, it reads "Use any Windows compatible audio card with ASIO, MME or WDM support".

ok, guys. i have wireless access to the Internet for a few hours. i would like to solve the sound problem i'm having for once and for all. my computer list the Alpha Lexicon Driver in the programs list. i changed to ASIO in MC, but when i did that i lost the sound of my project audio and MIDI included. the MIDI was notation i entered in the staff view. (i think that's all the information you need, but then ) sirena del mar

ok first we need to determine why you have no output for audio, then we'll deal with MIDI. when you say audio, we need to make sure we're talking about the same thing and not the audio associated with MIDI. do you have an AUDIO track in your project? if so what is it? guitar? voice? and IF you actually have audio in your project (not looking at MIDI yet) what is your output of that audio track set to? and what is the output of the MASTER BUS set to? and also, look here: OPTIONS>AUDIO and tell me what is listed for the RECORDING and PLAYBACK DEVICES? (please be specific!)

the audio has a separate track. its recording of a New York city train that i made myself. the Master bus is set to NONE. the Recording playback is set to NONE. the Record Timing Master is blank. the Audio under control panel is set to the onboard soundcard: Conexant.

ok - that doesn't make any sense. the conexant soundcard should not be showing up at all if you're in ASIO driver mode. you said you changed to ASIO driver mode - after you did that, MC3 would have popped up a window telling you to close and restart MC. did you do that?

beagle, i checked on the programs list and when i clicked on the Lexicon Alpha Driver, it says that i rarely use it and the last time was when i installed it. its true that i haven't use the pre-amp, but if the ASIO is working how its supposed to, wouldn't it be active? is there something else that i'm supposed to do to activate the ASIO? sirena del mar

don't worry about what the programs list says about how often you use it. it doesn't necessarily understand what "use" means. try changing to WDM driver mode. it will tell you to close and restart MC and when you restart it, it will want to run "tests" on your soundcard. let it do that. then go to OPTIONS>AUDIO again and change it back to ASIO click OK it will tell you to restart MC, so close and restart. now see if you have any options of the lexicon in the RECORDING and PLAYBACK TIMING MASTER.
