Which Sonar program?

Dear people,

Im planning to make guitar songs and record them with an interface, microphone and a recording software.

I did some research and i'm thinking of buying an Cakewalk Sonar program because i heard that this is a very kind friendly program for beginners to record guitar songs. The only thing i dont know yet is which Sonar program will be the best for my solutions.

I saw a lot of different programs so can anyone recommend me the best program (and easiest for beginners) to record guitar songs and play along with drums, basses et cetera?

Greetings,

Marcel

    Welcome to the forum!

I'm afraid there's nothing in the SONAR assortment that is particularily easier for beginners than another, because the basic setup is very much the same with all of them.

X1 Studio and Producer have more options, soft synths and effects, than Essential.

Starting with the inexpensive and more straightforward Music Creator would not be a bad option, IMO.

Whatever you choose, there's a learning curve, because the basics of audio and MIDI recording are the same in spite of the software.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.

    I agree completely with Kalle.
Basic setup is where most new users get tripped up, and it's pretty much the same for all versions of Cakewalk and other software.
I also heartily endorse starting out with Music Creator 5. It is very modestly priced, and was designed to be relatively easy for new users.
This would leave more cash available for a decent interface, which you will quickly find is almost essential.
I would suggest an interface that supports any inputs you may use, particularly condenser mics, which require 48v phantom power.
I would avoid USB mics, as they can be problematic. MIDI support through the interface is not absolutely essential, as most current MIDI devices support USB connectivity (USB is fine for MIDI ).
No matter what you get, be prepared for some challenges, and frustrating moments.
The first few weeks can be somewhat trying, but once you get the hang of it, you can set up a project in a few minutes, and record and edit with ease.
