both the delta 66 and the fast track are good units.  they are very different and usually people with different purposes buy each.  the delta 66 has no preamps or headphone output but it's low latency and solid drivers.  usually I recommend you get a small mixer to go with a PCI card like the delta 66.

the fast track is portable, has a couple of preamps and headphone output.  a complete "in the box" kind of package, but there are also sometimes issues with higher latency and stability since you're dealing with a USB port.  however, it's usually good for most people.

check my website for other soundcard recommendations and advice.

I use the 66's little sister, the 44, as well as the Fast Track.

The 44 has worked flawlessly for over 10 years. My main concern recommending it is... it has worked flawlessly for over 10 years, so it is an older product. I have no idea how much longer Avid will keep them on the market and update the drivers. But you should be fine for at least a couple of years.

The fast track is a nice all-in-one package. This one I'm using on my Mac. Flawless performance again. Not like it's the best thing you can get at that price point - there are similarly priced audio interfaces which probably are just as good or even better. The preamp is functional. The biggest drawback I see is the output - RCA only.

If I were buying one today, I'd probably get Presonus' Audio Box USB ($149 at Sweetwater, not that I want to promote them, I just wanted to get an idea of the price).

The AudioBox adds midi in/out, both inputs can be used for mic OR instrument (unlike the FastTrack), it has regular 1/4 outputs, and overall, seems much better designed and solid than the Fast Track.

I'm sure there are others - check Beagle's web site. :)
