Which Version Of Cakewalk/Sonar Were You Running On THAT Day?
Watching things unfold since the day that Gibson pulled the plug one thing really stands out and that is: There are many versions of Sonar that are being missed. I upgraded to Platinum 18 months ago with Life Time Updates when I got a new PC and that is the version that is now my reference for discussions here and was/is (probably) my favourite Sonar. This assumes that I ignore CAL and StudioWare bot of which I thought were great and both of which ended up being neglected. I spent a lot of time on 8, I regret not upgrading to 8.5 probably as much as I regret upgrading to X1. So my question to everyone else is which is the version of Sonar that you are going to miss? And for those on older versions, what made you stick with that version rather than upgrading?

BTW, I'm still running that one and the world has not stopped and I'm still making music (if you want to call it that).

I had Sonar Professional Steam Edition up to and including the 2016 version, so whatever was the final update included in that.

I prefer 2017-07 (23.7.0.37). I used this version a lot and like it (almost no problems). I did never update until December, because there were no interesting changes for me. But when I updated to 2017-10 I had stability issues and the same with 2017-09. So I rollbacked to my favorite 2017-07! I can live without the proper duplicate function, that is the only thing I am missing from the newer versions.

bitman Splatinum 10-2017
Amen to both of these. There were several benchmarks for me. While it was not my first sequencer, Cakewalk 3 for DOS worked the best for me (MIDI only). It was amazing to be able to record direct to disk later, and later still to run Reality as a virtual synth within a DAW. Sonar Platinum 10.2017 was the best.

“Beer is proof God loves us and wants us to be happy” is attributed to Benjamin Franklin perhaps in error, but the thought remains a worthy sentiment nonetheless.
