Which build for X2
Hi,
I had a problem a while back with my system crashing (white screen freeze) and when I changed my build
back to 425, it's been a lot more stable, in fact very few white screens and crashes.
When I buy X2 will I have to move to build 535 (most recent build number) because it worries me
that my problems could start over again.

If X2 is like all the previous Sonar versions, it will be a seperate install to X1, so you could have both running on your system, if you so wished.

Any guesstimate as to the size of the X2 download? My X1 Producer is on discs (4 for everything, X1 soley on 1st disc). My Expanded etc upgrades have been d/ls.
Win10 64-bit. Intel i7QuadCore 4.20GHz. 32Gb Ram. Sonar Platinum.

15-20GB For producer, if you d/l everything. I assume it will be broken out like X1 (i.e. several files for the app itself, DimPro, Beatscape, docs etc.)

Im using sonar 8.5 producer and then there was an offer to upgrade to sonar X1 for $99 and free upgrade for sonar X2, I availed that offer. My question: Is it ok not to install Sonar X1 and just wait for sonar X2?

You don't have to remove anything prior to installing X2

Yes, it's okay to wait. You don't need X1 in order to use X2. They are completely separate installs. Whenever Cakewalk puts on a new major version, it is always a separate install and doesn't depend on any other previous version. Scott -- Scott R. Scott did mention that he's working on it, bit it will probably be a few months before we see it.

when will we see a X1 power book or a significant discount on the old stock of x1 power books? In the old days with a popular publication you would find over-stock on the remainder tables at the big booksellers a few months after the first rush of sales had ended. A specialty book like Sonar Power never gets the kind of distribution to justify printing a lot on a first run, or unsold returns shipped back from hundreds of little book stores. If there are a significant number of copies left, some of the stores (or individuals) that are stuck with them may list them on Amazon at a cheaper price after they start receiving the new version. Until they are forced into awareness that the old version is obsolete, there will be little interest in giving discounts. With e-books and print on demand, there will be very little incentive to discount old versions of books. They will become like old versions of software-hard to find and even harder to price. Your best buy will be on a used copy some months after the new version is distributed, as people who have bought the old copy replace it. But by then the price they can expect may be so low that it is not worth selling it to most readers.

Working on SONAR X2 Power now, but still have a lot more work to do. Slartabartfast pretty much nailed it on the head... the book is already available for a discount at various places, but if you're looking for $10 or something, you won't find it. Even after X2 is released, there will still be a significant amount of people using X1. Even my SONAR 8 Power! book is still selling because some people are sticking with that version.
