Which exciter/enhancer; PSP, Voxengo, Izotope?

Thinking of getting myself a great exciter.

The following came to my interest

- PSP Audioware MixTreble 2 (Part of MixPack2)
- The exciter included in Alloy 2 (w. multiband possibilities)
- Voxengo VariSatorator

- Alloy 2 comes with a lot of other features that I find pretty straight forward to use.
- However PSP MixPack got 5 of 5 at Music Radar and Alloy 2 wasn't in the list of their "best exciters"?
- Voxengo VariSatutator - Seem ok and at a good price.

Whats your opinion on these?

Thanks!

I would get the free trial version for each of these and try them out yourself. This will give you the best idea of which one suits you the best.

I found out the hard way that exciters can screw up a mix just about faster than any other plug when overused.  But for subtle use, I use either of the Isotope exciters (ozone or alloy 2).

they are easy to use in small amounts, have a variety of options, and generally just sound good to me.  Alloy 2 in general has really become a go to for track EQ and compression for me in addition to occasional exciter use.  I love the plug.

    Thanks for your input guys.

Yeah, will download and try them out:)

I like Alloy 2s GUI, seem pretty straight forward.

While I don't consider Saturn a true "exciter/enhancer" I probably should.  It is one cool tool that will cover quite a number of bases.  So...add it to my list as well.

PSP Mixpack is very interesting, because it provides you with several tools for the price.   You get, "Mixtreble," but you also get MixGate, MixPressor, MixBass, MixSaturator, and MixSync...

Mixtreble rocks on Hi-Hats, ad leads with heavy reverb.

MixPressor is a very versatile comp, which covers too many areas to list
MixSaturator is like, "the first console emulator," but can be pushing for, "a distortion box."

    MixBass is self explanatory

and MixGate has bugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ( Renoise related..  wont accept automation commands from the pattern editor.  )

MixSync is a plugin compensation device...  I haven't needed it...

    too many lasers...

Linear Phase - yeah, you get some really good tools in this box:)

PS - I haven't produced/mixed music for that long, so I am learning bit by bit how to use different FXs in the mix. A lot of great online tutorials and user forums like this one is getting me there faster;)
