Who Does Your Mastering?
I know that some of you have had songs signed and I'm wondering if any of you could recommend a good professional mastering engineer (i.e., not a home studio amateur mastering engineer - I've got that part covered in spades!) to master a few songs for digital download. I'm looking for: - good - affordable - familiar with EDM (it's a progressive house/dance track with multilple mixes) - located in the US (I've checked some European mastering houses and, with the US$ in the dumps, it's way expensive!) - fairly quick turnaround (a week or less would be preferable) - easy to work with Know anyone? FYI - yes, the label that is distributing the song normally would have it mastered, but I have the option to have it done myself and I just want to handle it this time around.

Cryo, might try these guys. JP has been around for a long time here in Dallas. Good person. He makes his bread and butter writing beats and recording a lot of rappers/hip hop, but has handled R&R for me and has done Erykah Badu, so he is all over the place. www.digido.com Another thing you might want to check out is AAMS, which is a mastering program. Will never replace a real mastering engineer but it is better than the less skilled ones IMO, and will very often get a better master than is possible with a home setup.

AAMS cant master my tracks for ****...lol tried it out,...I think I will stick to my old methods...  I would love to see what a pro could do with a few of my tracks. I think it would be very difficult to please me....

You might look at Gene Cookmeyer's offerings. He has done some amazing things for me, and I handed him some real crap to work with. Top Sound Productions

If you want quality and low price, I would really recommend Mental Mastering. I'ts a mexican studio and they DO deliver excellent sound. I master with them all the time.
