What Reaktor synths do you use?
Do you use a controller with it?
Have you ever considered abandoning (well mostly) all soft synths apart from Reaktor?
Do you think learning it inside out a waste of time or not? Or did you not bother?
Do you just play with it or do you actually record music with it?

I'd consider myself a legume more than a nut.
What Reaktor synths do you use? / I've probably used 10-15 different synths over time.
Do you use a controller with it? / No. At least not yet.
Have you ever considered abandoning (well mostly) all soft synths apart from Reaktor? / Nope. Reaktor may be practically endless, but my time is not.
Do you think learning it inside out a waste of time or not? Or did you not bother? / I think it could be worthwhile I just have never had the time.
Do you just play with it or do you actually record music with it? / I've used it on multiple tunes. Sometimes it's the only synth I have that fits the bill.

I use Reaktor all the time, it's great. I have all the Komplete Ultimate 10 stuff - I find some of their synths a bit over complicated and convoluted, but there is no doubt that there is some fantastic stuff available for it both in the form of synths and effects. The Reaktor User Library is a treasure trove, as are the donationware Boscomac offerings.
I've never really learned how to make synths with it but I know how to chain existing synths and effects together. I've tried reading the manual but it's more like a reference manual than a learning course. I wish someone would bring out a complete course in Reaktor in book form.

Yeah, that'd be nice. Something I could read whenever I have a few minutes could really help.

Mesh has said it and me too, that if I was just starting out I would just get Reaktor and learn it. Wouldn't need to even think about anything else much less spend any money. It would be admirable endeavor to take the time to learn it. Like Sharke said, don't forget the user library. This would be the time to do it with Reaktor 6 just out.

I like Reaktor. I wouldn't consider myself a nut for it (yet), but I'm starting to warm - yes. Recently started putting it in some of my compositions. We'll see if they stick.  was on Groove 3 and they have about 5 hours of tutorials on how to use it. Has anyone gone through this? Is it pretty good? if I DO take the plunge (all in), I might want to start there.

I've done the Reaktor tutorials in Groove3 a year ago. They were good but I appear to have forgotten most of it.

I watched the Groove3 course. It's good for learning the basics of using Reaktor synths (the interface, how to save snapshots etc) but barely touches the surface of synth building. There is another company which offers a full video course on that but I forget the name and I seem to remember someone saying it was a little rough for beginners.

ADSR has some quite in-depth courses about actually programming things in Reaktor. Doing so is *very* low-level, picky work, however - not anything that could be tackled casually. If you want to do something significant using Reaktor, it's clear you must commit to a lot of effort to climb a formidable learning curve. By the way, ADSR has been running a deal in which you can get a trial month subscription for a buck. Well worth checking it out.
