I'm using two 28" Hanns G monitors. Don't feel the need for three, but I already feel like I have more real estate than Donald Trump...

i use three and that is plenty in my opinion, unless you have small monitors,in my case its 2 -20" and a 24" in the center hard mounted to the wall, the two 20's are on each side on swivel arms so they can be adjusted in brought closer/further away and out even further to the sides. my video card only supports 2. i have an external video card that plugs into a usb port. but its a good one made by toshiba. id like to add i only use the third monitor when im mixing down or mastering and i need the space, normall 2 moitors are all one needs. there is nothing wrong with clicking a screenset, thats what they are there for. let me ask you this? how much resources are used up by extra monitors..like 3 or even 4? things can get quirky if your system is pushed to the limit with 40 tracks/piles of vst's/soft synths.

I use one 46" with Sonar 8.5. I had two smaller monitors before this and liked having two screens. I will probably end up with another 46", but three is a diminishing return when I can press a button and cycle through windows. Not to mention screen sets if I can ever stand to use X1 again.

I currently use 2 32" flat screen TV's, and 2 55" flat screen TV's, for a total of 4. It allow me to see a great deal of information, nicely instantly available to view. Even if you can't afford more than 2 monitors, you can pick up a pretty nicely usable 32" TV for something like $199. That's what I paid for mine back in December.

I use SONAR X1 x64 Windows 7 x64 and 3 screens. I run 2x 28HD + 1x 24HD all in full HD 1920 X 1080 and set to all the best graphic quality on. No glitch whats so ever and I love it! I change the graphic card to this! I can highly recommend this new card and you can't hear the fan during any load, games SONAR X1 what ever... You can use up to 4 screens on one singel card., meaning with two physical ASUS GT640 2GB RAM-card in parallel you can use up to 8 screens on one computer. http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/NVIDIA_Series/GT6402GD3/

I use one video monitor... and I regret that it is already getting in the way of the good sound from my loud speakers. It scares me to think how bad 3 video monitors would sound; I imagine I'd be reaching for the harmonic saturator and the transient shapers trying to figure out where the good sound went. best regards, mike

I had no problems fitting 3 monitors over here.

"mike_mccue" I use one video monitor... and I regret that it is already getting in the way of the good sound from my loud speakers. Excellent point. There's no doubt that the deterioration is proportional to the size and number of screens you have in front of you. I've also noticed that most professionally built studios mount their wide screens (42" and up) behind the monitors and flat against a wall. But I imagine that this would also cause some added reflected mids and highs, right?

I've posted this before, but in case you really want to know 4 in total for me. dual 28 inchers (over and under) . The lower for X1 track mixer/console screensets. The above switchable for plugins, tempo clock, RTA, video from Sony Vegas, studio camera visual, or Television feed, depending on the needs. A third 17 inch clones the track mixer and is parked with the midi keyboards. The fourth is 21 inch in the studio. Its duties are either clone of the track mixer, switchable to control room camera for client visual communication (I don't have a window in this studio/controlroom setup so I use video cameras in all rooms)

I am currently managing quite well with my little 15" laptop screen. When I eventually get my "studio" sorted out I will be using two monitors... can't remember the sizes, but they are circa 20", one wide screen the other 4:3

robert_e_bone Even if you can't afford more than 2 monitors... Mine are all the same model, purchased at different times with the price getting progressively lower. The first one was bought new in 2005 and cost £280 (UKP). The others from eBay added later, costing $115, $85 and $35.
