Who went to Pensado's Place on 23 May 2012?

Did I miss anything important from the utterances of one Steven Slate?

Hope it's more fun than watching an expo' on central heating boilers.  I think I've managed to get through 10 minutes of one of them before I got a similar vibe to that kind of thing.

I think that one was Bruce Swedian, all credit to those guys and all that, but I'd get more enjoyment out of watching paint drying.

That maybe just me though, and I'm a self-confessed misery guts.

I like ol Dave and even occasionally watch his blog thingy.  But he's a bit differently abled and the show is generally pretty dull.  And while taking nothing away from Dave's well earned rep as a master mixer there is also a little too much of the "he hooked our stereo up...he's a genius" about it.  Also I bet there's a portrait of Steven hanging somewhere in Steven's house...probably hidden in the attic...that's starting to look pretty gnarly.

Yeah, that kind of thing, or some 20 minute anecdote about somebody filling a kettle up while working on some seminal album and forgetting to turn it on even.

Hilarious I suppose but I guess you had to be there.

Still, these poor old scrotes are probably under-utilized these days and they've got to find something else profitable to do with their time.  Sadly it doesn't seem to be a spectator sport they've developed.

He's a scrote! Love it jonbouy.

It's a pretty hokey show really - how he loves to show off waves and mcDSP plugins with the occasional shout out to slate digital.

Some of the interviews are interesting though.

I liked when they asked slated what he used on different tracks and He said FET compressor ans so on. I thought that was the best part of the interview.  The rest fluff, and yes "In Bloom" has awesome drums!

Of coarse he is going to push his stuff! Silly not to do so.

If I had $2000 lying around I would have a dragon too!

It's up now. Since they went to the new format the videos are online right after the show.

Dave's ITL covered Synth approaches in the mix. Actually this part was very good. Used a lot of mid size and delay to one side stuff.

    Slate I'm listening to now.

    Gear: A bunch of stuff.

I find the show moves along at the pace of a turtle, but the information that gets delivered (about 5 - 10 minutes worth in each hour) is incredible! Unlike most mixing engineers, Dave enjoys sharing his secrets.

Don't fix it in the mix ... Fix it in the take!
