Why All The Locked Posts? New Forum Software?
Well... Nice thrill to the morning... New forum software... I guess it'll take a bit to get familiar and comfortable and discover atts attributes as well as any issues... Nice to see some progress tho I'm wondering if the above is why so many threads are (accidentally?) Locked? Thanks Cakewalk... Keni

Kind of off topic I guess but they should have at least kept the first and largest one (Shiny New Forum) up here. This is kind of the main Sonar forum as it deals with the flagship products and people need to figure out how to navigate this new forum software. In fact it should probably be a sticky (at least for a while) as the Baker post was immediately locked. There were lots of helpful posts in the big thread that got flushed and those who don't visit the CH won't see it after it rolls of the front page here.... which will inevitably end up with tons of off topic questions about the new software which have already been answered.

Hi Beepster... I'm not sure what you're referring to...? It appears that all info and many settings (signatures) transferred fine and so far I'm liking most of what I'm seeing right off the bat! (We'll see about the new search facilities asap! ;-)) There's an excellent Quick start Guide by Ryann Munnis in the "Announcements" Post of the "General" Group of forums... if that's what you mean... Hi, Keni. You're doing better than I and many of us then with the transition. There's just some nuances and preference settings that were causing some confusion. I actually didn't mean this post in specific was off topic just that that's probably why all those other ones got sent to the CH. If you want a laugh check out the Shiny New Forum thread to watch as I flailed about trying to get my bearings. lol Hope you've been well. @John... Yeah, you just know we're gonna see a few months of people stumbling back in to the forum and being confused. That thread covered most little tweaks that can be done to get things the way people like. It's all still a tad too busy for my liking but I've managed to get comfortable with the new set up. Cheers.

Hi Beepster... I can't say I'm comfortable with it, but it seems pretty straight forward for the mostpart (for the basics I guess)... My first gripe? The nice, clean, uncluttered look "uses" a lot of space to achieve this and therefore I see less on screen at any one time.... Just like X1 did to 8.5.3! ;-) Keni

A couple things you can do to reduce the sprawl is simply hit Ctrl - a couple times which brings things down to a more normal size. Another is in the user control panel under Additional Options you can hide the avatars. This makes it MUCH easier to view. However you don't get the visual cues of the avatars obviously which is why I've left that option as is.

This new forum has that facebook feel . Bla.....the all white color makes it really hard to read threads / and to differentiate between threads .. Not a fan at all .. This hurts my eyes..

Oh and you can hide peoples Sigs too which cleans things up quite a bit. Also check out the Essentials vs. Full buttons at the top. Unfortunately when switched to Essentials you don't get the little icon that let's you know you've commented in a thread. This option also seems to have to set individually for the main thread list AND comments otherwise you might have Essentials for the thread list and full on the comments. It's a little weird.

Hi Guys! I moved the threads to the Coffee House because they were taking up almost a whole page of the SONAR forum. I love all the conversations, but it just didn't seem relevant to SONAR. I know why people often put things in that forum, 'cause it's right at the top and where most people notice things. This newer software allows people to more easily see active topics in other forums now though, so it's much less necessary then it was before. I don't know about you guys, but I've been using the "Posts" drop down on the menu bar a lot (in the Default Theme) to see what's happening when I've had some down time. Anyhow, when you move a thread, it asks if you would like to leave a notice. The "locked" threads you're seeing are just notices that threads were moved. After a while I sort of figured everyone knew things were being moved to the Coffee House so I stopped leaving notices. All of the original threads are still open, they're just here in the Coffee House. Sorry for the initial growing pains!

In Firefox you can change the background color of webpages by clicking the Firefox menu > Options > Options > Content (tab) > Colors. Then select your background color and uncheck the option that says Allow Webpages to Use their Own Color. It will effect all sites though.

Hi, Ryan. Yeah, that's perfectly understandable. It was getting cluttered but the one big thread could have stayed. It would save you having to move more threads in the future as those locked threads will roll off soon and lots of users aren't here every day like some of us. Just a suggestion.

Thanks for that reminder Beepster... I forgot about the page zoom and kept looking for such in the user settings of the forum! ;-) Except it doesn't seem to be working... I just upgraded to Firefox 21 (can you believe it?) a few minutes ago so what will I blame? ;-) Keni [edit] OK.. I got it zooming... It took re-starting firefox and removing the program I was using to emulate IE so that replies worked (tab?)... and even then I had to execute the commands then change windows back and forth to see it... What's up with that? ;-) In any case it is a little better (tho there's still way too much "wasted" screen for my likes... [end edit]

Thanks Ryan... I'll definitely reserve any judgements until I have really put it thru some paces... May take me a while... right now my only peeve is that the zoom function isn't working in Firefox 21 and I really would love to reduce the size of all the data and have more on screen as I can scan faster...
