Why Everyone Should Listen to this Song by Jesse Q. Screed

Because there is a great example of old school turntablism.

The turntablist  was  my friend DJ Romeo, using real vinyl.  The record we used was of some Tibetan Monks chanting from the Tibetan Book of The Dead that I found in a dust heap at the local Salvation Army.

I listened to the record for hours trying to find parts that went with the song.  When I finally found them I vocalized to Romeo how I wanted him to play them, and Romeo nailed them. He played straight through the piece, no cut and paste.

I wish I knew what the Monks were saying; does anybody here speak Tibetan?

The only  synth tracks are the bass, the tablas, and the high keys.

The whirling wharbling soaring  sounds are actually done on a guitar.  The guitar is played by my friend Robage. I’m Not sure how he did it, but there are about six parts; each one of them different.

This is chronicling  a recurring dream I’ve had since I was about 5 years old.  It always ends in a puddle of sweat.
It’s not my best effort, but it is my seminal foray into quikdom.

Do yourself a favor, listen.  Comment as you wish, or not.

The piece is called WE ARE THE LOCUST

Bit, would you master this for me? HAHA, but seriously. I saw in another thread that you were a mentor kind of guy.

Very original. I suspect a few won't have any point of reference. It does have a kind of meditative beat going in it. All of the other parts seem to fit in an odd way. I think it would make a great thing to have going in the background.

All the stars will soon go out.  I like it. A lyric with a message. It’s odd of course, but it’s also accessible – there’s not going on in there that is off-putting or unpleasant to listen too. The only thing I could comment on is that I’d like it more if you took a bit more “out there” (where ever that is) – take it over the edge.
I don’t speak Tibetan but this old man says “Tomorrow Never Knows”.

Hey Bapu, you listened to my song!

I guess maybe they have, at least until tonight again.

    Love.

And Manny, thanks for pointing out that my lyrics have meaning to someone.

I dig this too.  I feel this all the way to my heart...or is it my colon?  Either way I'm becoming a fan.

OK, that was another.... "quirky" one.       For me it actually has a bit of a psychedelic Beatles feel to it.  Cool.

The only negative mix aspect for me was that it seemed to pull a little to the left, but that could be intentional.
