so you are bragging you pulled a gun on a panhandler who asked for a quarter? he didn't threaten you or act hostile, but asked for a quarter and you thought a threat to his life was a good thing? I understand that people would rather be safe than sorry but that sounds excessively hostile. Maybe it was a scarier situation than what it sounds but based on this you sound like more of sa threat to an innocent life than the panhandler.

I can only go by what you say. I can't tell you how you feel/felt. Just based on what you said, it sounded bizarre. I have been jumped and I have been mugged. I know what it is to have a stranger put a gun in my face. If you felt pulling a gun was justified, there is no way I can determine whether it was. You put it out there that you pulled a gun on a guy for asking for a quarter and I commented. Preaching is a stretch since most of my initial statements were questions to see if there was more to the story. You have no idea what my prejudices are just like I cannot assume that your pulling a gun was based on prejudice. The guy may have wanted to mug you or he may have just wanted a quarter. You still have not said anything different except you are implying that you have some psychic ability to know what the guy was thinking. Of course they ran when you pulled out a gun. If some hostile old guy pulled a gun out for no reason, most sane people would run regardless of their intentions.

Bayou..i have been to NO. I'm very aware that it has a high crime rate. I may have done the exact same thing in your situation. Like I said, I am just going by what you said. Your initial statement was that 3 guys asked you for a quarter and you pulled a gun on them. No matter how you slice that, at face value, it sounds hostile. It sounds a little less hostile when you explain you somehow knew their intent (dubious but makes you sound like less of a pyscho), but the idea that just the image of his head is supposed to illicit fear takes me back to thinking your response may have more to do with your own judgement of people.

I tried pulling a 9mm on some thugs once but it didn't help. I guess if I had actually had a gun to put the 9mm in it probably would have been more effective...

We called the police. This happens all the time here. I and others were told a while back by the Police and Sheriff Dept. to arm ourselves.
P.S. you have to get a concealed weapon permit and attend class before you get a gun.
