Why Not Visit My Soundcloud Page?
https://soundcloud.com/thehumantornado I am hoping to find people who would volunteer some assistance in turning my demos into final prints. I wrote all of the songs. I try to play all of the instruments and occasionally sing, but I'm afraid that I am only able to play electric bass well enough to pass muster. Vocals, guitars, drums, keys, horns, arranging, or mixing advice would be greatly appreciated. Negative constructive criticism would be great. Also, follow me there. I will follow you back.

Greetings from a former Long Islander! The drummer from my high school band (back in the mid 80s) went to SUNY Stony Brook and did some shifts as a late night DJ on WUSB (Where U Should Be) for a while. We even did a mock radio interview of our band, in the style of "This is Spinal Tap", which he actually played on the air at least once. :) He played the straight interviewer, lobbing softball setup questions, while the rest of us put on faux British accents and told outrageous lies about our band's antics and experiences. Good times. :P I listened to your SoundCloud page's top track, "Voktorias Absolution", which was really interesting! I love the basic groove, and the odd 5-measure chord structure. Trippy flute and guitar lead. I dig the flanged/phased EP. Minimalist percussion, but it still adds, and was tastefully done. As for constructive criticism, I'd suggest that the song might benefit from a "B-part", and maybe a vocal? Also, the guitar tuning is a little "iffy", and some of the leads are a little "extra loose", although I realize that's kinda what you're going for. Then I listened to your Mutha Funkas interview for a bit. Yeah, good old LI stoner humor. :P There's a lot of stuff further down the page. Obviously some of these are more polished than others. Nat Funk's Lament (version one) was pretty awesome! Are there any specific tracks you're particularly looking to work on sooner?

Thanks for the reply. I have often considered being a DJ at WUSB, but I would easily get into trouble. I'd like to hear that interview you did. I actually destroyed a local TV show interview with my buddy who is the bassist for a well known British guitar player. (I don't want google to pick up the name.) It's rather painful to watch. https://youtu.be/GCyzdtaw40g?t=1m19s Best to to skip through it. I play a suitcase with my foot toward the end. "Voktorias Absolution" was an early attempt at using REX files to compose something. I had more or less forgotten about it until I stumbled across the mix on an old DVD back up. If you hear any guitar leads that sound iffy, I am probably playing them. I should most certainly not be. I can only pretend to play solos. I know what I want them to sound like, but I can't get the guitar to make the sounds I hear in my head. I am a bass player by trade. For rhythm parts, I tend to punch in a lot. Often times I will tune the guitar to a chord so I don't have to finger it manually. Then there is a lot of comping. Nat Funk's Lament is one of my favorites because Pete Mistretta just kills it on guitar. I just asked him to solo over the bed-track and that's what he came up with. Plus- he doubles it! I don't know too many guys who can double a solo like that in the less than 3 takes he did. Whenever you hear a good guitar performance it's either my cousin [ https://soundcloud.com/violacello], Jeff Denny [ https://soundcloud.com/jeff-denigris] or Pete mistretta (Both versions of Nat Funk's Lament.) I don't have any particular track that I want to do right away. Whatever track a person finds most appealing, that would be the one I would want to work on. I plan to have other musicians re-record all of the instruments on most tracks. I would end up only on the bass tracks. I'm not able to play audio right at the moment, but I will be giving a good listen to your tracks later tonight. Thanks again for the reply!

I like a bunch of stuff on your soundcloud account. I like Nat Funk Walks Into a Bar. Perhaps we could do some stuff together. I am out of town for the next 10 days or so but after that I will have some time. Send me a email at planobillyfl@gmail.com. I will try to listen to more of you tracks as time permits. Cheers, Billy EDIT: One More Time is cool also and so is Bad Mutha Funka

Awesome. Thanks. One More Time is one of my favorites. I would love to get a sure-fire singer and sax play on that one.

Thanks for checking out my sounds. Sneaky Pete is about my longtime friend and guitar player. He has a habit of stealing guitars and money from me. Never underestimate his sneakiness. There should be a medal given out to anyone who can make it more than 3 minutes into that video. However, everyone should watch the part where I play a suitcase filled with sticks and twigs. Totally deadpan. They had no idea. https://youtu.be/GCyzdtaw40g?t=46m32s
