Why am I hearing two instrument sounds at the same time?
I'm trying to play Ketron D2 sound module via Sonar 2X with my master keyboard (Casio PX-3) and I'm hearing the sound I selected (let's say a string) plus a piano sound. I don't understand where that piano sound is coming from. I turned off my master keyboard volume (or set it to activate EXT). Seems like something is sending and note on MIDI channel one or something. I have tried both USB and MIDI cable. Thanks in advance.

This can happen if you have loaded a soft synth like TTS-1 into Track View.

I think you may be on the wrong forum. The Ketron D2 is an external module. If you have no synth's loaded in Sonar, and you are hearing something ... it's not coming from Sonar. Unless someone happens to have one of those units, we unfortunately won't be able to help you much. We'll certainly try, but it sounds to me like it's a problem external to Sonar.

i think swamptooth is on to something here. go to your tracks I/O(input/outputs) make sure your output is set to the track/softsynth you have selected and nothing else. also check to make sure the PX-3 doesnt have a setting on it that may involve accompaniment. a quick test:try to record this, what are you hearing back after you have recorded,is it only the strings,or is it both?

I suppose you can Insert a blank midi track to record an external module to play alongside a tune in Sonar. That midi track will mostly likely use channel 1 as the send default. Your external module may have the string and piano presets both receiving on the eg. channel 1.

Hi, it's possibe that you have to disable the "Local Control" on your Ketron, so you hear only the channel/sound choosen in Sonar. If the "Local Control" is enabled, you hear the sound choosen with the channel in sonar and the sound choosen at this moment on the keyboard. I have this to do with my old Korg PA2Xp Pro and with my Korg M50 - also with older keys I had. So take a look in the manual of the Ketron for "Local Control" or something similar. Timo

+1 on making sure 'Local' is turned off for the external synth, when you are working with it and Sonar, or it will generate local sound. Bob Bone

RIGHT!!!!!!! Turn off playback so you'll only hear from the midi module, not from your controller keyboard: Preference-> MIDI->Playback and Recording. Under Playback, Un-check Always Echo Current MIDI track
