Why can't I delete an event? (Resolved-ish)
Hi - happy New Year. I know it's early and I need major coffee, but I am unable to delete note events on a track, using the Event List view. I select the event by clicking on it, then hit the '-' button at the top for delete, and nothing happens. It's not deleting some other event - there is no asterisk to tell me the project has changed up in the title bar. Just, nothing happens. I cannot inert an event either, using the '+' sign at the top - same thing - nothing happens. Do I need a 'thwack' to the back of my head, or is something amiss here? Please someone explain where I am going wrong here. Bob Bone

Hi Bob, I've not powered Sonar up yet, but have you tried using your keyboard Insert and Delete buttons yet? Got to admit that I hardly use Event List anymore.

I get nothing with those either. In addition, I have all of these events - I can see them - I can hear them - but if I go to PRV, I see NOTHING for the measures these events are in, and if I pull up Step Sequencer I see nothing there either, even though the events are quite real and quite present. Are you selecting them? I tested this and it works. It did in X1 and now in X2a. I often float the event list but it works floated or docked. I select the channel but you can select anything and hit delete.

See that the event is selected. Make sure that the track is not locked.

I believe this is something to do with these measures being created with Step Sequencer. If I open Step Sequencer for the measures, no data shows up, even though there is data. Also, when I go to PRV, no data shows for these measures, even though it is there. Bob Bone

I click on some tracks (all created with Step Sequencer), and I can see the steps that were entered. Other tracks, I cannot. Further, when I click on one of the drum track measures for one that was created in 9/4, it opens Step Sequencer with no steps, and it also shows a 4/4 measure, instead of the 9/4 it was created with. Well, it is something to do with that particular track. Other tracks in the project, all created with Step Sequencer, allow me to delete, no problem. So grrrrrr to this track, but it is the only one I need to edit, and it would suck big time to have to re-enter these events. It is a drum track, from a Bill Bruford tune. It HURT the first time I entered the drums, going back a second time would make my head explode, like a penguin on the telly. Bob Bone

Bob. Try changing the editor for the clip using the clip editor menu (top right of the clip). I think that will sort it for you. I seem to recall running into something similar a while ago. The editor selection actually changes the clip type and perhaps there's something relevant to your troubles in that process. HTH

Well, I tried all the choices, and went back to Event List, and still cannot delete. I will try to bounce later, after first trying to copy to another project. Thanks for the ideas - hope something will work for me. It would seem something got internally jazzed up, which would although annoying be OK, but only if a work-around is available in some fashion. Switch the output to another patch, something chromatic rather than drum mapped. Bounce to audio. Open the audio in V-Vocal. Turn it into MIDI. Take the MIDI and send it to the original patch you were listening to. HTH. best regards, mike
