    Mooch shamed into doing that.

I've got one in process now.

Chorus words, melody and loose chord structure is done so far. I have the resolve out of the chorus. Working on the verses now.

Although I've been a lyricist on a few Coffee House Band songs and have musically and lyrically collaborated on another (yet to be released) CHB song, this is the first full song I've worked on alone in over 20 years. I'll be curious to see how it turns out.

Ha...be bold and take on the challenge.

Personally, I write from my experiences in life and my attitudes about certain subjects

IMO....pick a subject, and know that one's first attempts may suck until appropriate time is invested to flesh out lyrics and minimize cliches.

    Easy?...no.
    Rewarding?...yes.

Good luck on your quest weed hopper.

Open the dictionary at a random page (or better still, take advantage of Wikipedia's random button) - all you need for an original idea is a seed. Doesn't matter how small or insignificant.

Also, get into the habit of whistling 24/7. You may inspire murderous tendencies in those around you, but it definitely gets the juices of melodic creativity going.

I don't see the problem. I'm writing a song about it as we speak.

Ok, maybe that was too easy.  Here's what I got with the next press of the Random Article button!

You kidding? That's a gold mine!!!

Just from the summary - A frickin' baron, and names like Bergavenny and Thornicroft -  and enough references to death and people dying in those 5 sentences alone to inspire me like 12 albums, minimum*. :P

George Nevill, de facto 14th (de jure 2nd) Baron Bergavenny (16 May 1702 – 15 November 1723) was an English peer.
The son of George Nevill, 13th Baron Bergavenny, he succeeded to the Barony upon the death of his father.
He married Elizabeth Thornicroft, on 21 February 1722/3, but died on 15 November 1723.
He and Elizabeth had twin girls, born on the 20 November 1723, both of whom died on 1 December 1723.
As he died without issue, the Barony passed to his younger brother, Edward Nevill, 15th Baron Bergavenny.

*Which would most likely all sound like Cradle of Filth, given the material. :P

Hmm...  Ok.  The next two must seem just as promising then.

One (This one probably only looks tough, eh?)
    Two

I have found that writing a song is pretty easy.

Writing one I would want to do a cover of...not so much.

I know a guy named Thornicroft. Well actually he's a friend of a friend.
