Why does Sonar keep bumping my MIDI controller?

Hi all,
Most times I open X1 I have to go into MIDI devices and re-enable my BCF2000 interface in the Control Surfaces dialog. Why does this happen? There a times where it will load correctly but most of the times it gets bumped and I have to reset it. It's not that big a deal but it does get annoying. Thanks for the help.

Is the MIDI controller always turned on and connected when you start SONAR?

Software: Cakewalk by Bandlab; Adobe Audition; Band-in-A-Box audiophile; Izotope Ozone; Encore; Melodyne; Win 10 Pro, 64-bit.

Hardware: Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 2nd; Roland Integra-7; TCE Finalizer; Presonus Central Station, Behringer X-Touch.  Home built i7 with 16 GB RAM, SSDs.

Don't ever start Sonar without the surface. (Happens from time to time, when you just need to do something quick without the surface - and the next time you have to re-enable it)

I always turn on the peripherals first, then start Sonar. Just weird!

It happens with other devices too. It would be interesting to know if it happens on other DAWs. I've only noticed it in Sonar (not X1) with a different device to yours but I don't use other DAWs on a regular basis. It would narrow it down to the DAW or if it's an operating system glitch or driver issue etc. Random stuff with no pattern is hard to fix.

It's only the control surface. All other midi devices are always there and are never bumped.
