Why is Sonar X1 losing focus?

This has happened to me several times: Sonar loses focus on my PC: the project window minimizes, and I cannot get focus back on Sonar.
I have to exit application (X1) on the task manager. I cannot maximize the project window again. I cannot select the File menu.

My setup is like this: Sonar X1 Producer on a WinXP machine, and I should add that I use SonarPlus. My main pc monitor is 1400 X 900, and I have a 1280 wide monitor that displays Sonar's browser and the console. No matter what I click on, Sonar has "lost" focus and I eventually kill it in the task manager.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks in advance if you can advise me.

you should try it without the sonar plus changes first, just to rule that out - still have the same problem?

Does the Windows "alt-tab" gambit not bring it back?

You should also be able to regain focus by selecting the Sonar executable in task manager...right-click and select "Switch to". If that doesn't bring it forward, you'll probably have to do a logoff, which in my experience takes the app down as well as rebooting.

No, it has no effect. Selecting Sonar in the task manager also does not work, it returns me to Sonar, where the project window is minimized, and I cannot select or asctivate anything. Thanks.

What kind of video card are you using?  Updated the drivers lately?  A few specs might help some of the more experienced users here to diagnose your problem.

    Are you running duel displays?

If you have a popup that is off screen, that could be why you can't get focus.

Next time you lose focus, check in the bottom bar and see if you see more than the SONAR window tab, if you do, you can right-click on it, choose "Move", tap the right arrow key a few times, then move the mouse and the offending window should snap into focus

Well if he can't force Sonar forward with alt-tab or task manager, there's not much else that can be done other than force it closed. Bummer.

Something external to SONAR is stealing focus. It's probably some antivirus software or firewall or could even be spyware/malware that's infected your system.

Get a copy of Process Explorer (it's free from Microsoft), which is like Task Manager except it includes processes that are normally hidden from TM. See what else is running, things that are showing a nonzero value under the CPU column.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    Hi guys,

There is no antivirus on my music pc, and only the Windows firewall. I have a fairly decent graphics card with the latest drivers. I checked in the task manager, and the only running app is SOnar.
I agree that something within Sonar is stealing the focus, but I can't see it on either of my monitors. I suspect the culprit is Sonarplus. I've not used it since someone suggested this above, and the problem has not recurred. Which is a great pity, because I really liked it.

    To answer your question.
Yes this has happened to me a few times.
I minimize Sonar and there it stays stuck in the taskbar.

I'll look into this at the weekend. Thanks for letting me know about it. It's an important problem to fix, but luckily it doesn't seem to be affecting many people at all. Could be tricky to reproduce, but leave it with me and I'll get back to you ASAP...

My work computer setup is a laptop with docking station and second monitor connected to the docking station.

I'ver run into problem between dockings where an application that was on the second monitor (right) will think it's on the left& non existent monitor when undocked.

The only way I can get the application back is to right click on taskbar and select maximize.  This works most of the time, however sometimes not.

Have you checked your monitor properties when this happens?
