    Because it is.

    Sort of like "cats and dogs" instead of "dogs and cats".

     In order, then, to discover the limit of deepest tones, it is necessary not only to produce very violent agitations in the air but to give these the form of simple pendular vibrations. - Hermann von Helmholtz, predicting the role of the electric bassist in 1877.

    My wife, whose first language is not English, often reverses or mangles compound idioms and words. This I find to be an endearing quality, and has given me inspiration on several occasions for song lyrics, which after all are about trying to come up with a new way to say the same old things.

    All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    Les R. Moore, the weatherman at WKRP in Cinncinnati, holds the copyright to 'less or more' so it might cost a pretty penny to use it.

    Shoot, where did I remember Les Moore from?

    There seems to be a lot more Les Moores than I would have expected.  A search found this web site:

    http://www.webpanda.com/ponder/epitaphs.htm

    The epitaph in question:

    Death in the West
    [font="'times new roman'; line-height: normal; text-align: -webkit-auto; font-size: medium; "] Here lies Lester Moore.
    Four slugs
    From a forty-four.
    No Les
    No More.
