Why ...
... do folks use 5 dollar words that actually mean something common, rather than just say the thing they really mean in the first place ... or have I just been Homer Simpsonized?
"I pulled the head off Elvis, filled Fred up to his pelvis, yaba daba do, the King is gone, and so are you."

Bub ... do folks use 5 dollar words that actually mean something common, rather than just say the thing they really mean in the first place ... or have I just been Homer Simpsonized? I would like to profusely apologise if any indulgent florid articulation of mine has obfuscated any simple meaning I've tried to convey by means of lexicography via this organ of communicative expression.

A better question would be "Why do people use $5 words to put their 2 cents in?"

SteveStrummerUK Gluteus maximus Correction would be a welcome catharsis to me should it amount to my being errant on this particular occasion, but does the latin nomenclature used in your expression specifically refer to the musculature of a singular buttock in this instance? Contextually I would have considered that your intention was to be inclusive of the general sternum area of the human anatomy as a whole in your previous reference.

Actually this my be a good time to mention this $5 thing. I don't know all the quirks Americans use with language but Mooch will often send me a message that just states; Figh Dollah, Mista! It's a mystery to me as to whether this is a request or an offer. <shrugs>
