Will SONAR X2 Power! help me?
I know that sounds stupid, but with most books I've read, most of it has to do with recording live instruments. I DO NOT record my own instruments-I just use stock/other purchased sounds, to make instrumentals. Will this book (Sonar X2 Power!) be worth the money? Will I skip half the book because it's about recording? I know it's nice to learn it but I'd prefer if most of it was on other stuff. Also, will it help me learn about my type of music, or is it like based on recording a band?

X2 Power is about Sonar X2. That covers a lot of ground. It will have information on recording but from a Sonar perspective. If you are interested in learning X2 better it will serve you well.

How could you not pick up something from this book. Read for yourself what Scott has to say here. Check the paragraph covering new topics and if you know everything listed there then you won't need Scott's book, but if you don't there really is a wealth of knowledge in the pages of Sonar X2 Power. Just buy it. It's well worth the asking price and you will learn much more from this than the manual - trust me It will cover topics you're not interested in, but also goes into great depth on Midi, soft synths, automation, drum programming etc - topics that should meet all of your needs.

I may be the only person left on earth who used to read the manual cover to cover, and the Cakewalk manuals were among the few that were worth reading. The thing is, I would typically read them when I was stuck somewhere, and not at my computer trying to get something done, and I do not own an e-reader (too small, content way too expensive considering the cost of publication, and too intrusive, sending back to third parties not only what I am reading but which page and for how long) so that stopped when the manual became pdf only. That is still a major advance over Microsoft, which stopped even making pdf manuals for their software when they found out how to screw their customers with Microsoft Press. There may not be anything in Scott's book that is not covered in the manual, and not all of it is necessarily all that much simpler to understand than the manual if you are a technically sophisticated reader, but it is portable and on paper. And some of it does explicate some arcane points better than the excellent pdf manual that comes with Sonar. If your kindle is on the blink, or if the pdf manual leaves you cold, or seems to be written in a foreign language, you can certainly benefit from the book.
