Yes. If you look at the features list for X2, it contains all the X1 Expanded features.

    Alan,

If you're going Expanded I HIGHLY recommend buying the Production Suite.
If you already have Producer then you'll get all the Expanded Features,
    Zeta 2.1, the PC4K -S Type Expander'Gate, and a Free PC4K-S Type Compressor for $100
    AND YOU GET X2 FREE!!!

    That's the deal!

Thank you cclarry for the headsup.

I would never have known about the upgrade if it were not for you telling me.

Guess what I will be buying at the weekend.

    Thanks again

That is a good deal!   If I hadn't already accumulated everything over the last nine months or so it's certainly what I would do.

So to clarify...there will be no X2 "expanded"....X2 itself will be "expanded" from the get go? I'm just wondering whether it's worth me buying Production Suite now (it's $399). The way I look at it, the expanded upgrade from X1 Producer is about $50. Production Suite is $100 more than X1 Producer (currently $299). If I went for Production Suite now, I'd effectively be paying $50 extra for the extras that contains (since it includes Expanded). But when I get the free X2 upgrade, if that already contains the "expanded" features, then I would have effectively paid $100 for the Production Suite extras. Are they worth that much? Sorry if I've gotten this wrong.

If you read cclarry's reply above, the Production Suite is $100,plus you get
X2 for free when it is released.

Here is what you need to consider Sharke...

    Expanded is $49
Zeta 2.1 is $99 or $49 to upgrade
    PC4K Expander Gate $49
you also get a FREE PC4K Compressor ($49)

So at the bare minimum to get to the components of Production Suite it would cost you $147...

Now what you have to consider is "How much is the upgrade from X1 Production Suite to X2 Producer going cost"

If it's $49, which is HIGHLY unlikely then you've saved a total of $96...the $47 you saved by buying PS for $100 PLUS the $49 for the X2 Upgrade.
If it's $99, which is more likely, then you've saved $145 dollars, and you can learn and use Expanded now, so that when X2 is released you'll
already have a good grasp of it.

Either way...it's pretty much a no brainer...if you're looking at Expanded now...do it now...Zeta 2.1 is worth the price...

    Cheers!!!

Already having Expanded, I would need to know how much the X2 upgrade will cost in order to decide if it's worth it. I've never used Zeta-1, so Zeta2 is pretty incidental to me. I'd have to decide if dropping a hundred bucks in advance for a $49 track comp that i havent benn interested in is worth the "free" X2.

    I hear what your saying...

If you have no interest in Zeta,, or the Pro Channel Modules then maybe you might be better off...

    The question is..

Will the upgrade structure include an Expanded upgrade?

If it does then it WILL cost more then the Production Suite Upgrade...that's a given...
but less then the Producer Upgrade...provided they even have an Expanded Upgrade Option...

My view was this....I wanted to get Zeta anyways....which would have cost me $49
so if the Expanded Upgrade is From $99 or more...I basically got Zeta for free, or $1 so to speak,

My assumption is the upgrade structure, based on the platform and the NEW inclusions will look like this...

Production Suite to Producer      $ 99
Expanded to Producer                $129 to $149
Producer to Producer                  $149 to $199

    and so on....

So, even to get the lowest price upgrade possible, you STILL need Production Suite.

No matter how it shakes out....you end up coming out ahead...

Unless, by some MASSIVELY UNLIKELY SCENARIO, they end up giving away the upgrades (that WON'T happen)

Even if the Expanded Upgrade (which I already had) to X2 was $49 (NOT likely) I lost $2 in the gamble..
I'm pretty much AT LEAST getting Zeta for $1 and more then likely getting Zeta free and saving about $50.

That's pretty good odds by my estimation...

For me, upgrade pricing is irrelevant because I'm buying Sonar for the first time. I really like the fact that they're going to upgrade me to X2 for free, because otherwise I would be killing myself waiting for X2 to come out. I think I'll go for X1 Production Suite, since it's currently only $399 (down $100?) at B&H Photo here in New York.

This does sound like the best deal for current Producer owners, but where are you seeing that the PC4k S-type Comp is included in the Production Suite?  I see the Expander/Gate, but not the Comp, unless I've missed something.  Anyway, thanks for the heads-up!

Production Suite customers won't get a discount because X2 doesn't include Zeta 2.1, PC4K Expander Gate and the PC4K Compressor. It only includes Expanded features so the upgrade will most likely start at $49 for Expanded customers. Scott Garrigus on his DigiFreq blog mentioned that Expanded customers won't be getting much new features so for them to charge $99 to upgrade would be steep. It makes more sense for them to just charge $49 since Expanded customers already paid $49. $99 for Producer customers would be ideal and consistent with the last 2 upgrade cycles. If they do charge more, it will be harder for them to make sales because the only thing going for X2 are enhancements and a few new features. http://www.digifreq.com/d...opic.asp?TOPIC_ID=6795

    Granted, but here's the thing..

Expanded is NOT considered a version...it's an EXTENSION of Producer.

If you look at the Marketing....

    X1 Essential
    X1 Studio
    X1 Producer
    X1 Production Suite

Expanded is NOT a version by their own Marketing...
It is merely an EXTENSION of Producer...

Production Suite Currently IS a Version, which includes EXPANDED.

    Cheers!

I was merely giving Expanded users the benefit of
    the doubt...

And you can be GUARANTEED there WILL be difference in Price.

If you even read the X2 spread it states

Buy X1 Production Suite - GET X2 Producer FREE
Buy X1 Producer -             Get X2 Producer FREE
Buy X1 Studio -                 Get X2 Studio FREE
Buy X1 Essential -             Get X2 Essential Free

    No mention of Expanded...

I just don't think they'll leave Expanded Users out in the cold..
I'm sure they will get an upgrade price..if just won't be the same...

    One thing for sure...

I'm pretty confident the LOWEST price will be $99

and will go up from there..

It is EVEN HIGHLY likely that Expanded may STILL be an Extension...

Hence the Marketing AND the the pricing would be accordingly...

They may just continue to use the existing Expanded base,
and just keep marketing the 3 Versions...

Which means that if you have producer...you will STILL have JUST Producer..
If you have Expanded you will STILL have Expanded
If you have Production Suite you will STILL have Production Suite

The playing field would THEN be completely level...

I really don't think they are incorporating Expanded INTO Producer...
NOTHING in the video says anything about incorporating Expanded into X2 Producer..

I'm not even sure where that notion came from...

I think X2 just BUILDS on the existing platform..

I stop framed through the video again and I see NOTHING that says Expanded is NOW
part of Producer.  Nor is there ANYTHING on the X2 Pages that would indicate this.
