Will sfz player play sf2 files?

Hello,

I have the sfz player in my plug ins and wonder if i can load sf2 instruments into it.

I had a nice bass guitar that was lost in my crash and i'm trying to get some sounds in there except i forgot how and where i got them.

thank you.

SFz is a sound font player, SF2 is a sound font.

Yes SF2, SFARK, and RAR are zipped files and have to be unzipped before the player can see them.

So if i download some soundfonts (RAR,sf2 or SFARK) and unzip them in my VST folder
the VST adaptor will put them into the sfZ player? or do i open the sfz player and upload them from there?

    THank you!

you open MC4...insert a new audio track and insert SFZ into the FX bin....as a VST. Inside the SFZ player is a thing called program..click it and it should open the folder with your fonts. It will only display valid and properly unzipped fonts.

You will need to have a midi track set up to accept the midi data or to play previously recorded midi data. In the output field in the track properties window, (for the midi track) you should see SFZ # with the # representing the instance of SFZ you are looking for. select it as the midi track output, and it should play the midi data of keyboard input.

To clarify SF2 is not a zipped file, i made it sound like it was what i meant was. Yes Sf2 will work, SFARK and RAR are zipped files and need unzipping!

Herb, it seems you prefer to add a VSTi to a fx bin rather than use the synth rack, i am curious why? I mean this is the way i used to do it with MC 2003 before the synth rack. Are you finding that that method opens less tracks and therefore is less cluttered and saves resources?
