Will these two issues be addressed in the Xb update?
These are annoyances and I wonder if it will be addressed in the Xb update? 1. The Pro Channel overlap, will this be fixed for those users that have monitors and soundcards without that extra high resolution? They should have made it to fit all resolutions starting at 1024x768 my high quality monitor CRT monitor won't allow me that without warped screen images. 2. Naming of new Projects, are we still gonna be forced to name every single new project? Why can't they make it default to a basic name, without being forced to having to name the new project. I get tired of being forced to name every new project, it's kinda annoying, when I start up a new project I wish it would default to a basic name if we don't add a name to it.

Have you tried SONAR Plus. It's quite useful for lower resolution monitors because it has a 'full screen mode' that gives a fair bit of extra vertical screen space. I will be releasing the full version 1 (no longer beta or release candidate) this weekend. It's been tested by a lot of people and is very stable. By the way, you can press Ctrl-N to open a new project without having to name it (Plus has a button for that too!).

Sonar Plus is a toolbar type add on.. It has nothing to do with the pixel height of your screen.. I had to buy a new monitor after installing Sonar X1 since I had to keep scrolling up and down to view ProChannel.. I guess the "standard" pixel height is now higher! 768 is "yesterday's" pixel height!

kday Can you view the whole Pro Channel in Sonar plus + with a 1024x768 resolution? Contrary to what dlesaux says, yes you can. If you enable 'Full Screen Mode' and then switch the P/C to 'Compact EQ Module' you can see the whole thing even with the Control Bar visible. Edit: Correction: You can't quite see the ProChannel preset selector at the top. You would have to temporarily hide the Control Bar to see that (using the 'C' key or the SONAR Plus 'C' toolbar button). Edit 2: Here's what it looks like. This picture represents the entire screen at 1024 * 768. Notice that there is no Windows Task Bar, and no SONAR window title bar at the top (both temporarily hidden). If you have Internet Explorer, open it up and press F11 - it does exactly the same thing so you can see how it works. Edit 3: You can also use all the knobs on the full size ProChannel as long as the Control Bar is hidden. The only thing you won't be able to see is the compressor meter, compressor type switch, and preset selection stuff right at the top.

Hey thanks Benstat ! That's better than the current view! But I tried to install the Sonar plus beta and it said I needed [net. 4] to install. dlesaux you should have saved your money and used the Sonar plus instead!

They should have made it to fit all resolutions starting at 1024x768 my high quality monitor CRT monitor won't allow me that without warped screen images. These should give you a bit more room (mentioned above by a few others): - At the bottom, below the ProChannel: Display > Module Options > ProChannel > Compact EQ
- Press "C" to show/hide the Control Bar
2. Naming of new Projects, are we still gonna be forced to name every single new project? Do one of these two things (either will work): - In the New Project File dialog, uncheck "Store Project Audio in its own Folder"
- Press CTRL+N to make a new project

Thanks for the tips Benstat! That's okay, I'm still happy with the extra real estate on my screen!

I get tired of being forced to name every new project, it's kinda annoying, when I start up a new project I wish it would default to a basic name if we don't add a name to it. You don't have to name new projects. When the project dialog pops up, just un-check "Store Project Audio in its Own Folder" and hit "OK". You can do a save-as when you are ready to name the project. For me personally though, I just name it...even if it's basically gibberish or just a date. It takes less than a few seconds to type a few characters. But like I said, if you don't want to name it just uncheck the box, hit OK, and commence with rocking (or rolling, etc...). EDIT: oops I see Zyler already hit this - and even included the helpful CTRL+N tip.

Is there a way to dock the Sonar Plus toolbar at the top instead of it just floating? Thanks

The final SONAR Plus version 1, available this weekend, will have a proper installer with it built in, so you won't need to download/install it separately. Unfortunately you can't dock the Plus toolbar. Not yet anyway, perhaps in a future update. However, there is a very convenient place for it by the Track View menu. See http://www.sonarplus.co.uk/Pages/Toolbar.aspx?Position for a picture. Edit: And don't forget to hide the buttons you don't need to make the toolbar smaller (see http://www.sonarplus.co.uk/Pages/Toolbar.aspx?Customization).

Ok, how is the Sonar Plus toolbar supposed to work? Do the toolbar supposed to automatically load when the Sonar X1 program starts or do the user have to load the Sonar Plus toolbar separately after the program have been started? When I start up the Sonar program I find myself having to find that Sonar Plus icon and start it up separately? Is there a way to make the Sonar Plus toolbar load automatically when the Sonar X1 program start up? Thanks

Hi kday, The following text is taken from the SONAR Plus FAQ ( http://www.sonarplus.co.uk/Pages/FAQ.aspx): "I want SONAR Plus to start automatically as soon as SONAR starts. Is that possible? Yes, but it actually works the other way around. SONAR Plus can be configured to automatically start SONAR. This amounts to exactly the same thing. The only difference is that you run SONAR Plus instead of SONAR (you might want to set up a shortcut for this). By doing it this way, the SONAR Plus toolbar will be visible as soon as SONAR starts. To do this, open Preferences. In the 'Startup' tab, look for the 'Run SONAR on Startup' options, and follow the on-screen instructions." A new feature has also been added to v1. If you run SONAR Plus and SONAR isn't already running, it asks if you want it to run SONAR for you. If you answer yes, you tell it where the SONAR program file is (ie. SONARPDR.exe for Producer) and it will start SONAR. It then remembers the settings and does it automatically thereafter. In other words, just run SONAR Plus, regardless of whether SONAR is already running, and it will handle everything for you. Finally, if you don't want to do it that way, open up SONAR Plus Preferences and click the 'Add to SONAR Utilities Menu' button. This will add an option to the SONAR Utilities menu which lets you run SONAR Plus conveniently from within SONAR. Thanks, Ben
