Win 7 isn't recognizing new HDD

This morning I bought a new Seagate 1T 7200 HDD.  I physically installed it, then booted the computer.  Win 7 gave me the message that it had found the device and automatically loaded a driver.  But the new HDD doesn't show up in my list of HDD's in "Computer."  It shows up in Device Manager and says that I have the latest driver.

What do I have to do to get Win 7 to "see" the new HDD?  I am sure that it is something simple, I am just not a Win 7 expert.

Thanks in advance,

Tom

Tom I just went through this but can't remember the Win 7 technique. I think I googled the exact phrase of your post title and there's lots of info out there and it's really easy but I can't remember how to get there from here.

Right click on Computer and select Manage.  You may not have a computer icon on your desktop, but on mine if I click the start button it has a Computer listed right above control panel in the right column.  When the Computer Manager interface opens, go to Disk Management.  I think you just need to initialize and format the new drive and you should be good to go.

They call 'em fingers, but I've never seen 'em fing.

Thanks, that is what I did.  FYI Disk Management is in Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Storage

    Everything is working fine now.
