Win a Free Tranzport Wireless DAW Control Surface - Awesome with Sonar!
Hi Everyone, The latest DigiFreq music product contest is underway. For this contest, we're working with Frontier Designs to give away a free Tranzport Wireless DAW Control Surface. Here's more info: "Frontier Design Group’s new TranzPort represents a revolutionary way to interact with your Windows or Mac digital audio workstation (DAW). Instead of being stuck in front of your computer to compose, record, and produce music/audio, TranzPort gives you the freedom to control DAW functions from anywhere in your studio." To enter to win a free Tranzport, go to: http://www.digifreq.com/digifreq/contest.asp Best regards, Scott -- Scott R. Garrigus - Author of Cakewalk, Sound Forge, and SONAR Power! books; Publisher of DigiFreq music technology newsletter.

Hi Scott- You know I've always been one of your champions, but this is a little above and beyond for this forum, don't you think? Cakewalk does not allow any form of advertising, therefore promoting websites or products in the forum is inappropriate. Thanks- -Susan

Hi Scott- I'm not selling anything. No, but you are promoting your website, unsolicited. I'm not trying to make a big deal about it, but it is one of the things prohibited in the forum's TOS if in fact you use that site for advertising. Thanks- -Susan

ORIGINAL: dbmusic Even your signature is an advertisement. D00d, eat a pill and relax. I don't know who or what has empowered YOU (oh 435 posts master) to be so litigant on decorum. This guy wrote the bible for Sonar, and is trying to give away a piece of equipment that many people on here have cited as one of the best new controllers for Sonar, what's chafing your panties? I don't think it's a Twelve Tone paycheck, since you don't work for them, so put a sock in it and stop "quoting" TOS statements. It's not the letter of the law and it's definitely NOT your job to enforce it. YOU write a book on Sonar, and give away a Tranzport, and I will personally back up any advertising you want to profer. Until then why don't you just shut the piehole. I swear, the arrogance of DAW owners knows no bounds. "No, stupid jerk who has spent YEARS contributing Sonar reference material, DON'T give away free equipment on here, I need the bandwith to whine incessantly!!!" And it's only Monday.

Hi michael- D00d, eat a pill and relax. I don't know who or what has empowered YOU (oh 435 posts master) to be so litigant on decorum. As I see it, it has nothing to do with the number of posts someone has on this forum. I'll leave aside whether they're "litigant on decorum" or not, since I have no idea what that means! Do you? I certainly respect Scott's contributions, and I've said so in the past. I own "SONAR 3 Power!", and I still refer to it, even though I'm using 5.2. But: This guy wrote the bible for Sonar, and is trying to give away a piece of equipment that many people on here have cited as one of the best new controllers for Sonar, what's chafing your panties? Oh, come on! I thought his latest new thread was more of an ad than a response to a request or anything -- It was an ad. I'm not sure why you're so incensed about this. It's not up to you to decide what advertising is allowed here, so when you talk about the "arrogance of DAW owners", I'm not sure who exactly you're talking about. It's obviously ultimately up to Cakewalk in terms of this forum, isn't it? Thanks- -Susan

This is much ado about nothing, IMO...Garrigus has written some very helpful materials for SONAR users and, for that matter, DAW users in general...He publishes a "FREE" newsletter and is giving away a "FREE" product that is endorsed by and sold by 12-Tone Systems..."Where's The BEEF?"

I have to admit, the whole idea of alienating and running Scott off this forum saddens me. I feel it would be a tragedy second only to the troll fiasco of summer 2005. When I bought the Sonar 3 Power! book, it completely lifted the veil that was preventing me from "getting it" as far as using Sonar at a higher level. It was so well-worth the $30 that I paid, and looking back at what it did for me, I would have paid $99! I have since bought the 4 and 5 Power! books, and, while not having the impact of the 3 book, have proved their value nonetheless. I just don't get it. Scott is NOT getting rich at this stuff, and he is doing it as a labour of love and offers everything at extremely reasonable prices. He is eking out a living at it and that's about it. This all started with 1 person ****ing about him, and has now grown to about 4, and THAT puts this at risk? The majority of people here either welcome his threads wholeheartedly, or don't mind. So a few people squak, and 1 hits "Report" and that's enough? Wow! I've hit "Report" on the one that started going after Scott, several times for HIS many violations, but he is still here. What's up with that? Cakewalk, Scott's work is helping your business in MANY ways, so please take a positive position on Scott's involvement here so that he can feel welcome, and make things clear for everyone so that no-one has to go through this sort of thing again. Please someone "Report" me for posting this so that it gets into Cakewalk staff's face. And, if it gets me banned, then I'll know how how little I belong here, and be OK with it. Thanks Steve

ORIGINAL: Susan G As I see it, it has nothing to do with the number of posts someone has on this forum. I'll leave aside whether they're "litigant on decorum" or not, since I have no idea what that means! Do you? Well, truth is your original post was very civil, and I responded to it in kind. I felt this other post I was responding to was a little naive in it's attempts to enforce forum rules that are truly Cake's business to enforce... or NOT enforce. Really, why would they want to stick it to Scott over some liability clause in their user forums anyway? Sounds petty, which is what I felt the post I repsonded to was. We're not Cake's lawyers, so I think quoting "chapter and verse" on someone, especially Garrigus, is... how do we say it? Lame. And personally, ad or not, I truly don't see the point in trying to cut off someone like Scott from contributing, even if it is to tell us about a free giveaway, the latest edition of his book, or the newsletter. I could have just as easily posted on here about Scott's offer as a "hey check this out!" thing and no one would have freaked out about TOS transgressions. Scott is a legitimate resource for the software we're using, attempting to discipline him for reminding us of that is incredibly short-sighted. I can think of many other things to be concerned about on the forum than Garrigus trying to give away a piece of gear. Truly. It's obviously ultimately up to Cakewalk in terms of this forum, isn't it? Quite obviously, so I don't see the need for people to get up Scott's face about what the forum rules are. For all we know he plays golf with Greg Henderschott, so I think everyone should back way off and read only the posts they want. This thread would've sank five posts earlier if people didn't want to mince the definition of "ad".
