Windows 10 Constantly Changing Default Audio Device and/or Sampling Rates?
Is anyone else here frustrated by Windows 10 constantly and randomly changing the default audio device to something other than their external audio interface and/or changing the audio bit rate or sampling frequency? I don't know what the hell is going on, but it seems like I need to change (and sometimes fight) to get the aforementioned settings back in order almost on a daily basis.
For example, just this morning, Windows 10 decided to enable, and make default, my computer monitor's audio device (which it has no speakers), i.e. the AMD High Definition Audio Device in the graphics card. This device was previously disabled, and I haven't upgraded the graphics card drivers, which could re-enable it upon installation. Also, sometimes audio will suddenly become unavailable for my Saffire Audio (default device) when Windows sometimes thinks it would rather be at 16-bit or 44100Hz instead. I need to be at 24-bit and 48kHz.
I use my PC for additional tasks other than being a dedicated DAW PC. So it must play Windows sounds, internet/browser audio, video editing, sound editing, etc. I don't recall this being a problem nearly as much as when I ran Windows 7, which I sorely miss.
