Windows 10 taskbar doesn't autohide while running Sonar.
This is happening ever since the upgrade to win10. I know windows by default doest autohide the task bar and has the taskbar at bottom. I hate having the task bar that way. I always place the taskbar in the right side and also have auto hide enabled. Ever since I upgraded to win10 the taskbar often doesn't auto-hide. This is such a irritation coz it makes me constantly wanting to restore down and maximize windows in sonar and other apps as well. While in sonar its unable to access the browser easily coz of this. First I thought its a win10 issue. Now it seems this is happening only while I have sonar opened. Not always though. After starting sonar there wont be an issue for a while then suddenly it happens and doesn't hide until I restart the computer. Someone please help.

Thank you bz2838. If possible can you please place your taskbar at right for a day while working in sonar and see whether this happens. It will be really helpful.

It can happen that something is wanting your attention and is hidden by Sonar. Its often a dialog. Also on occasion for no apparent reason it will not auto hide. When this happens a reboot is the only way to get it back to normal. One point about Windows 10. The left and right sides are hotspots for multiple desktops and setup respectively. The top is for docking. Its a good idea in 10 to keep ones taskbar on the bottom.

If it won't stay hidden, then it might be easier to use F11 which toggles fullscreen in Sonar off/on.

This sounds like a Windows 10 problem that I've been dealing with for a while. I think it's a Windows issue. Try right clicking on a blank spot on the taskbar, then select "Task Manager" Go down the process list and find "Windows Explorer". Right click on it and then click "Restart". This will close and restart windows explorer. After doing this, the autohide should work. You should only have to do it once per session.

I agree. I have this problem constantly with all software, but only only on my primary display. As davec69 says, following his instructions sorts it temporarily, but it is a bloody nuisance and MS need to sort it out.

Restarting Explorer and using sonar in full screen mode are good options.

Hi. I just tried to dock my taskbar to the right, and choose hide taskbar automatically. I worked as intended / expected on my laptop. (Win10 x64), with latest SONAR. Have not tried on my studio pc yet (I always have it at the bottom showing all the time there). Sorry to be of no help. All the best.

It usually happens only after working for a while.
Sir William & davec69 Do you guys have the taskbar in Bottom or in sides?

Hi sonarman Mine is at the bottom on my large monitor, not my laptop screen. I spread Sonar across the two screens.

I see. So It should be happening irrespective to the position of taskbar. Just wondering why not everyone has this issue. Some specific setting is the cause or something else? I have my win10 updated so thats not the prob.

I have had this problem for some time and only with Sonar. As a matter of interest, what display adapter do you use? I use Intel HD Graphics 4600 (i.e on-CPU for an i7) and I have wondered whether it's connected to that.

Intel HD 4400. But I dont suppose its connected to that. Tested and reproduced the same problem in my old pc which has Intel G33/G31 chipsets.

Casting back to my days as a programmer, given that: 1) this only happens after working for a while, 2) restarting Explorer sorts it out, and 3) it's only happening with Sonar Platinum, this sounds like one of Sonar's buffers is running off the end of its assigned memory space and overwriting in-RAM settings for Explorer. What's really odd is that an error should be coming up during the compile phase when Sonar is being built. If it isn't, then it's a problem with Microsoft's development tools.

If that's the case hope Bakers report this to Microsoft and sort it. This really is a hindrance to pleasant workflow.
