Windows 10 update on Dell studio 1747... So far so good!!!
Hello guys.
Here is a quick testimony on my Windows 10 upgrade of my laptop (which gave me a lot of trouble with sonar in the last years... other daws like PT, studio 1, Live went all fine though...)
Did a fresh WIN7pro 64 bit install on it, then upgraded to windows 10. Went installing SONAR PLATINUM "H" and did some quick testing and so far Win ten seems to be my "savior" regarding Sonar! I'll detail a little bit more below and then I have some questions to rap things up. Hope that you'll have time to answer some of those
Details (working)
TASCAM US-2000 usb audio interface
M-Audio Fast-Track Pro usb
Onboard audio interface (and it finally seems to be behaving well with WASAPI or WDM/KS... MME and ASIO always performed well before...)
DETAILS (Still to be tested)
M-Audio ProFire Lightbridge
QUESTIONS / TWEAKS recommendations
1- Should I still bother to perform a CLEAN Win 10 install ?? (I Used the Win7 to Win10 update procedure from a clean Win 7 install)
2- SYSTEM TWEAKS : My laptop still seems to have issues regarding hard pagefaults. LATENCYMON seems to be pointing the following resources as problematic. What should I do with those? (These are a bit BAD looking, but still I did not encountered any "random" dropouts that used to plague me on Win 7...)
ACPI.sys
STORPORT.sys and / or NTOSKRNL.exe (highest DPC routine)
I8042prt.sys port driver (Highest reported ISR routine)
NOTE: left my network cards opened deliberately, just to see how the system would perform...
Thanks! (I Hope that some info here was useful for others...)
