I think you may be right Vern. Not being able to disable automatic updates is a huge concern.

I'm having the same problem, I will reinstall Sonar tonight...

Nope. If anything a MS feature request.

The scenario often happens after a Platinum install. I am guessing this happened after a win10 upgrade, or win 10 did an update, or another app was installed that changed the environment. At least it came up with an appropriate error message making it easy to diagnose.

Not just a Sonar issue happens with multiple apps and plugins. DLL hell is still with us.

One more reason to not upgrade.  Or at the very least to wait until June of 2016 when bugs will be maybe worked out.  Also realize if you are tracking and W10 decides to update, odds are you will be laying down the greatest track of your entire career, only to see it get all poppy-glitch-ruined.  Nothing on my machine updates unless I let it.

MFC DLL errors happen all the time regardless of Windows version and application. It's the MFC libraries conflicting here (probably just need updating) not the OS itself, just a component missing. I wouldn't blame this specifically on Windows 10 or Sonar.
 
I agree there will be bugs in Windows 10 that will need to be ironed out, and waiting out for them to be fixed. This isn't an apt example though IMHO.
 
It would be nice to see one day in windows where a missing or out of date library is detected, an automatic option to download them. So far no dice.

Haven't found any of this happening to my setup. I did have a 3rd party problem, in that I wasn't using the latest version and that caused an audio problem, but once I updated and re-authorized, I'm good now. I will say, that I haven't been running on this disk for very long. When I upgraded to Windows 10, I did so on a backup of my Windows 7 disk. When there was a problem, I went back to 7 for the weekend. I'm back on 10 tonight. I think it may be a good idea to run a Restore Point so I can get around any nasty upgrades if they displace any Dll's

I installed windows 10 a few days ago using a "CLEAN" install with a 5.9gig version of win 10 that includes the first two updates and auto activates itself as long as you have an internet connection available on the machine during the install. It does a great job of installing almost all the correct motherboard drivers and with a "clean" install which means not an upgrade you deactivate all non windows included programs so all the crap on your system is deactivated. You can either wipe your hard drive or keep all the old personal and windows files which will be place into a folder on your c drive in a windows old folder. I created a bootable flash drive with the free program RUFUS to install this custom version of win 10  , the windows 10 install took about 1 hour. You could burn a Dual-Layer DVD if you wanted to for the install but it will probably be slower to install. I then turned off all the update options of windows 10 that I could and everything is running GREAT! I love windows 10 some really cool new features with windows placement, screen recording and just a snappier faster OS/interface. If anyone wants a copy of this ISO i'll upload it to my server and walk you through install if you need. I just created another thread about this because I have the exact same issue. I then found this thread. I've never reinstalled Sonar before, so I want to make sure that I won't lose any data in the process. Will all of my track and project templates remain untouched? Is there anything I have to do to ensure that Sonar Platinum is exactly as it was before I reinstalled? Also, do I reinstall from the Command Center? I don't see an reinstall option there, only 'uninstall' and 'rollback" when I right-click on Sonar Platinum.
